We’ve just our first child and we know we want number two promptly.
I love the boys name [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] probably with middle name [name_m]George[/name_m].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] are too grounded in Greek mythology to work as a sibset?
I think [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] sound great together! [name_m]George[/name_m] is certainly different than [name_f]Snow[/name_f] but there is more flexibility in the middle names.
While I certainly get the mythology vibe from [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is so well used and familiar I have to think twice before seeing the ‘problem’. I actually think it would make less sense if they weren’t both mythological, because that would be like choosing [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] or something. That they both have the same origin connects two choices I would otherwise find somewhat mis-matched.
I think [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] work well together.
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] work well together. If you were using a name from a different mythology, then it might not flow as well. For example, Norse mythology name [name_m]Thor[/name_m] doesn’t work well with [name_f]Thea[/name_f].
I think they’re great! More common mythological names and they sound lovely together
I think they make a great sibset. Like someone said, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is so familiar now because it’s been used a lot more over time than names such as [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] or even [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] in this case, so I doubt people will go for the mythological connection at first if ever (if they’re not educated on it, I doubt they’ll ever see it… I know I wouldn’t).
I think it’s fine, but if you have a third child I wouldn’t use another mythology name. Two isn’t too much though! It would be different if you were picking like [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]. But [name_f]Thea[/name_f] isn’t massively mythological in its associations so it’s okay in my opinion.
I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] and [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] are great together! I don’t think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is too heavily associated in mythology for the average person, so [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] works just fine as a brother.
I love how strong [name_m]George[/name_m] is, and that it works well to balance out [name_m]Apollo[/name_m].
No, not too mythological at all, in fact, I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] & [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] make a lovely sibling duo!
No, I don’t think so. [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] is a lovely name and I also love the name [name_m]George[/name_m] (the cute little prince helped with that!). I don’t know Greek mythology that well, but as far as I know, [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is in the Greek language, not exactly myth. Doesn’t [name_f]Thea[/name_f] come from Theos, the word for God? I think it’s more like a short form of [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] or [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f].
I think it’s fine. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] something extremely well known and associated with mythology in general knowledge (like [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], [name_f]Athena[/name_f]) wouldn’t work with [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], but something like [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], etc. is fine.
No! I like both names, particularly [name_f]Thea[/name_f]. I think most people know about the god [name_m]Apollo[/name_m], but less people will recognize [name_f]Thea[/name_f] as being from Greek mythology. I didn’t. I knew it was Greek, though the Titaness I think you’re talking about is usually called [name_f]Theia[/name_f]— that’s how I know her, anyway (and I know a bit more mythology than the average person). So…I doubt you’ll have an issue!
I think [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] work so well together because they are just enough of the same style without going overboard. My immediate association with [name_f]Thea[/name_f] isn’t from Greek mythology, so I don’t feel like it’s too much of it to begin with, but the fact that it is kind of subtly ties in with [name_m]Apollo[/name_m].
I don’t think it’s too much, but I echo (ha, get it?) the concern of creating a pattern if there might ever be a baby #3.
