im looking for some help creating a dump of names that I can use for side characters in my project!
normally, my side characters get really random names, but one of my main goals for the next draft of this project is to really nail down the world-building. there are distinct locations in the world of my story, each with some cultural differences, so I want the names to reflect that.
im not changing any of the names of my main characters so the differences won’t be perfectly distinct (ie. this region only uses arabic names, etc) but id like for there to be a general aesthetic followed!
I might make a followup post. these are the regions with the most main characters and with styles that I think already feel distinct. you can suggest for one or both, whichever strikes your fancy! I will appreciate any ideas
feel free to make up names or pick established names, whichever comes to mind!
Wastelands
the wastelands/desert city-state uses names with a hint of grandeur. strong vowels, hard consonants, ancient/historical sounding (doesn’t have to actually be ancient or historical)
some characters from this region: [name_m]Castle[/name_m], [name_m]Auberon[/name_m], [name_f]Ines[/name_f], Theoson, [name_m]Harlan[/name_m], [name_m]Uriah[/name_m], [name_f]Hespera[/name_f], Sidru, Valco, [name_f]Bronwyn[/name_f]
Plains
the plains region is made up mostly of small towns. these names are different flavors of cottagecore — you’ve got your nature names, whimsical (fairycore) names, vintage names, and boho names
some characters from this region: [name_f]Sage[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_m]Griff[/name_m], [name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_f]Theodora[/name_f], [name_f]Eunice[/name_f], [name_f]Nadine[/name_f], [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]
