Caveat (I am from the US), but here those names are somewhat x-over girl names so I would suggest a strong masculine name for a middle name. I like [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Francis[/name] but I am afraid [name]Francis[/name] is still a x-over name so people wouldn’t be any clearer on the gender.

I love the name [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Harvey[/name]. I think [name]Morgan[/name] is wonderful, and the flow of the name is really nice. It’s a tough choice because they’re all great, but [name]Morgan[/name] is my favorite.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone, I don’t think the gender cross over is such an issue here - I live in UK… Anyone else from UK think thats a problem?

I just love all the names - can’t decide! Anyone else got an opinion on why one is better than the others? Out of interest what sort of people do you see with the names [name]Sidney[/name], [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name]?

Thanks, [name]Rachel[/name] x

I’m in the UK too and I’d say [name]Sidney[/name] (spelt this way instead of [name]Sydney[/name]) and [name]Morgan[/name] are still very much boys names here. [name]Rowan[/name]'s always been unisex really and I think is accepted both ways similar to [name]Jordan[/name].

I chose [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Harvey[/name] because I liked the overall flow. I agree that [name]Rowan[/name] needs a more masculine middle name because [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Frances[/name] could easily be a girls name. Maybe [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Harvey[/name]? I do like [name]Rowan[/name] too.

To be honest I like all three of your names!

I think [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Warren[/name] sounds very old fashioned and vintage like an old Hollywood movie star name. I’d imagine someone fairly cool and quirky but maybe quiet? It could be a hard name for a teenage boy to live with depending on how confident he is but I do think it sounds good.

[name]Rowan[/name] has a hippiesh vibe to me. It sounds laidback but I would worry slightly about it being so unisex. To be honest I think I prefer it on a girl.

[name]Morgan[/name]'s a good solid name, I think its the name a boy would find the easiest to live with in his teenage years (not to say that [name]Sidney[/name] wouldn’t more than grow into his name!) but then I would imagine its probably the most common of the names too and maybe the least “special”. Having said that, when I hear it I imagine a sporty, cool but well liked child.

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

Oh and which name did you think you’d decided on out of curiosity?

Thanks! We thought we’d decided on [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Warren[/name]… [name]Just[/name] love the combination! [name]Warren[/name] is one of my all time favourite names and hubby loves [name]Sidney[/name]… We have considered [name]Warren[/name] [name]Sidney[/name] but I don’t think it flows as well?

[name]Francis[/name] will stay - it was my grandfathers name and I love it paired with [name]Rowan[/name]. I do agree that [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Frances[/name] would be a girls name however much I dislike [name]Rowan[/name] on a girl, but I consider the spelling [name]Francis[/name] too be male…! [name]Rowan[/name] is hubby’s favourite name and although I like it a lot, I’m not totally convinced and [name]Francis[/name] has special significance to me…

[name]Morgan[/name] is hub’s 3rd choice, I like it but not as much as either [name]Sidney[/name] or [name]Rowan[/name]. [name]Harvey[/name] is another love of mine but hub isn’t convinced - he likes it paired with [name]Morgan[/name] though.

So difficult!

Thanks, [name]Rachel[/name] x

[name]Francis[/name] is obviously the male version I just meant that hearing it outloud, it sounds the same as [name]Frances[/name] and so the combo [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Francis[/name] wouldn’t indicate a clear gender. Something that would bother me but if it’s not a problem for you then you should go for it! Especially with such personal meaning in the name!

[name]Sidney[/name] [name]Warren[/name] is gorgeous, I don’t like the flow of [name]Warren[/name] [name]Sidney[/name] nearly as much! What about [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Francis[/name] so that you can still use your grandfather’s name? I know that’s something very important to me too!

I think [name]Morgan[/name] [name]Harvey[/name] should probably be thrown out as a combo though as you’re not sure about [name]Morgan[/name] and your husbands not sure about [name]Harvey[/name] so it seems to me you’re both settling in that combo.

I’d say [name]Rowan[/name], [name]Sidney[/name] or [name]Warren[/name] would all make wonderful first names. Have you considered [name]Warren[/name] [name]Francis[/name] since you love [name]Warren[/name] so much and [name]Francis[/name] has such personal meaning? Maybe then if you had another son in the future he could be [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Rowan[/name] for your husbands two favourite names? Hehe. [name]Just[/name] and idea!!

I love all three names. I think of all of them as ultimately masculine names, including [name]Rowan[/name]. I wouldn’t worry too much about the whole [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Francis[/name] thing, by the time he’s old enough to care, it’s going to be obvious he’s a boy. It might cause a little confusion when he’s a tiny baby (but old people think tiny babies called [name]Isabella[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] are boys - people are just daft) or in some anonymous situations (health insurance cold callers, but seriously most of them are daft too) but never anywhere it matters.

I voted for [name]Sidney[/name], but I think all of them work beautifully, which isn’t much help!
