For a boy, what are your thoughts of [name]Sidney[/name]. [name]Sydney[/name] has been on my name list for a long long time and I totally disregarded [name]Sidney[/name] because I thought it looked old and dated. Now however I’m warming to it as many people would presume [name]Sydney[/name] is a girl. Which do you prefer on a boy; [name]Sydney[/name] or [name]Sidney[/name]? And your overall impressions of the name please. I wouldn’t use [name]Sid[/name] intentionally but my mother has set her heart on it. Thanks!
Really don’t like it. It seems so watery on a boy.
I prefer [name]Sydney[/name] on a girl and [name]Sidney[/name] on a boy. I personally really like it on either. It seems very unisex to me. When I hear the name [name]Sidney[/name] I think of three things.
- I immediately think of the hockey player [name]Sidney[/name] [name]Crosby[/name].
- I think of [name]Sydney[/name], Australia.
- I think of [name]Neve[/name] [name]Campbell[/name]'s character in the Scream movies.
Where I live, hockey is very big, so there are still more boys named [name]Sidney[/name] than girls.
I love [name]Sidney[/name] and only like it on a boy.
I love [name]Sidney[/name] for a boy! I think it’s very handsome!
I like [name]Sidney[/name] for a boy. Yes, I would assume [name]Sydney[/name] was a girl.
[name]Sidney[/name] was the name of the hero in the final [name]Jane[/name] [name]Austen[/name] novel that was never finished and also the name of [name]Sidney[/name] Carton, the hero of A Tale of Two Cities. It’s a historic boys name and I think it really works. I’m not a huge fan of the nn “[name]Sid[/name]” but it’s a great boys name.
I really like [name]Sidney[/name] for a boy. [name]Sidney[/name] Poitier is a distinguished association. I know two guys named [name]Sidney[/name] - one is about 20, the other is about 8 - and it works really well for both of them.
[name]Sidney[/name] is all boy. I like it.
I am a big proponent for using [name]Sidney[/name] on a boy! I know one male [name]Sidney[/name] and he’s in his late 20s. His name fits him so well. I would definitely think the [name]Sidney[/name] spelling is for a boy.
[name]Sidney[/name] is all boy! Either spelling is fine. [name]Sidney[/name], either spelling, is awful on a girl. I think of [name]Sidney[/name] Poitier, the actor.
