Is [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] useable on a boy. I have really been crushing on it lately. I really like the sound of it and I did recently meet a male [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] (he was in his 80s though). The only other unisex name I like for boys is [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. (I am a teenager, not planning any babies soon).
I think [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] is definitely usable! It seems pretty unisex to me, especially with nn [name_m]Sid[/name_m]. I didnt used to like it, but I think I’m starting to crush on it too.
Also, [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] was a very popular girls name when I was growing up. I think that would just make me more excited to meet a boy named [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], especially a young one!
[name_f]My[/name_f] first association is always [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] Poitier, and I think he’s always worn the name well too!
(btw [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is one of my favorite boy names, I love it!!!)
Totally usable on a boy! Goes great with [name_u]Robin[/name_u], too.
I’m a big fan of [name_u]Sidney[/name_u]! I looove the nn [name_m]Sid[/name_m]
Sidney is a great name! I really like it. It’s unusual, interesting and fun. I can imagine an adventurous, curious and energetic boy running around everywhere.
I really like [name_u]Robin[/name_u] too! [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] would create a very cool sibset!
Two boys called [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] in my son’s preschool class last year, so I think a name we will see more of!
All the best
I think [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] and [name_u]Robin[/name_u] would be an amazing sibset for two brothers. Both are completely usable and established as boys names. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] Potier, [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] [name_u]Crosby[/name_u] the ice hockey player. [name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood, Batman and [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
Thank you, this is very reassuring. I kept second guessing [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] because it was pretty popular for girls my age.
It had a bubble of popularity for girls between around 1990 and 2010, but has declined again now and is about the same for girls and boys. Before that it had a long history as a boys name.
My daughter’s best friend is a 4 year old [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] and he is the absolute coolest. [name_m]Sid[/name_m] is a great nn too, and he carries the name off brilliantly.
I love [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] for a boy. [name_f]My[/name_f] mind goes to [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] [name_u]Crosby[/name_u] from the Pittsburgh Penguins!
Sidney is great! It feels literary, strong and chsrmingly vintage for a boy
I love [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] for a boy! I think of a slightly more dubious namesake, [name_m]Sid[/name_m] Vicious. But the [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] Poitier association is great!
I’m really happy to hear people are encountering little (boy) Sidneys.
Sidney might just be my favourite boys name. He’s a 100% usable.
I like [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] so much better on a boy than a girl! I’ve considered it as a mn, since it’s an honor name for me (both my grandmom and her dad’s name.)
Yes I think it’s good for a boy mame
YES I love [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] for both genders!!
Sid is [name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]’s younger half-brother so that works
ROBIN IS SO HANDSOME! I only really love it on a boy
