We are having problems with our future 3rd daughter’s name again. We thought we were settled on [name]Eugenie[/name] [name]Artemis[/name] but as it turned out we were actually pronouncing [name]Eugenie[/name] wrong. And now that we have heard the correct pronunciation, we don’t like it.
Now trying to find a new first name is as hard as ever! [name]Artemis[/name] really isn’t the easiest middle name, none of our favorite girl names sound even the slightest bit good with [name]Artemis[/name].
So I think me and hubby have decided to let [name]Artemis[/name] go and try to find a new mythology name for the middle spot. Here are a few we have thought about so far:
Based on your mn options, I love [name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Bronwen[/name] and [name]Tallulah[/name] [name]Bronwen[/name]…and looking at your other childrens names I am loving [name]Milena[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name] and [name]Tallulah[/name] as a sibset
My favorites:
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name]
I like the way [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Minerva[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Aura[/name] (Greek Titaness of personification and morning breeze) sound. [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name] are a really cute sibset, [name]IMO[/name].
I love: [name]Mahala[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] ([name]Lottie[/name]) and [name]Tallulah[/name] ([name]Lula[/name]). Out of these the latter two are my fave and then probably [name]Tallulah[/name] wins because [name]Charlotte[/name] is so common. Good luck!!
[name]Maeve[/name] is just ravishingly beautiful. And it fulfills the goddess part of the name.
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Muriel[/name] (also Irish- “shining sea”)
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Zephyr[/name] or [name]Maeve[/name] [name]Zephyra[/name] (I think of [name]Maeve[/name] as a “force of nature” so [name]Zephyr/name fits well I think. Plus the V and the Z give the name a nice buzziness)
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] (strong, red, sparkling… I see [name]Maeve[/name] as a brilliant, passionate girl, so [name]Ruby[/name] fits)
[name]Adelaide[/name]…seems a little heavy compared to [name]Milena[/name] and [name]Rosalind[/name].
[name]Florence[/name]…is nice, but I don’t like the alliteration of [name]Felix[/name] and [name]Florence[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name]…seems fussy next to the older girls’ names.
[name]Mahala[/name]…I like a lot, but [name]Milena[/name]/[name]Mahala[/name] seem too close to me.
[name]Seraphina[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], and [name]Tallulah[/name]…all seem too over the top compared to the sounds of the other girls’ names.
[name]Maeve[/name]…seems to abrupt compared to the other two.
[name]Charlotte[/name]…is my favorite.
[name]Imogen[/name]…is a name I just don’t get, so I’m not the best person to ask.
[name]Juniper[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name]…are names I’m quite fond of, but they seem like a different style set to me
[name]Elettra[/name]…is a new one to me, but I quite like it.
I’d vote for [name]Charlotte[/name]. I also wonder if you’ve considered [name]Lydia[/name]?
[name]How[/name] about [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Elettra[/name]/[name]Electra[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Selene[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Thalia[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Irene[/name] (pronounced with 3 syllables?) [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Lucina[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Diana[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Silvia[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Delia[/name]? [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Avalon[/name]? Charlotte Arcadia?
If [name]Eugene[/name]'s more commonly pronounced “yoo-jeen” rather than the French “er-zhen”, I’m sure [name]Eugenie[/name] can escape the proper French pronunciation too. There are three [name]Eugenia[/name]'s in my year at school and another [name]Eugenie[/name] a few grades below. I’ve only ever heard her name pronounced as “Yoo-jee-nie”.
I actually think [name]Georgina[/name] [name]Artemis[/name] and [name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Artemis[/name] sound great together (they both have that “een” sound in the second-to-last syllable, just like in your preferred pronunciation of [name]Eugenie[/name]), and I love the [name]Artemis[/name]/[name]Apollo[/name] connection between twins, but looking at other ideas, some other combos that I think could work:
[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Flora[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Athena[/name]
[name]Tallulah[/name] [name]Bronwen[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Freya[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Minerva[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name] [name]Iris[/name] (although that may be too plant-y)
Elletra [name]Rhiannon[/name]
[name]Annora[/name] [name]Eurydice[/name]
[name]Adella[/name] [name]Persephone[/name]
(I wouldn’t use [name]Mahala[/name] with a sister named [name]Milena[/name].)
But overall, I really do like [name]Georgina[/name] [name]Artemis[/name] for the girl twin. I already mentioned that I like the [name]Apollo[/name]/[name]Artemis[/name] connection, but I also think it’s fun that their intials would be F/G. Plus, [name]Georgina[/name] fits in great with a sibset of [name]Felix[/name], [name]Milena[/name], and [name]Rosalind[/name] (although I do kind of wish [name]Georgina[/name] had an “l” somewhere, since the rest do). Runners up would probably be [name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Flora[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name] [name]Bronwen[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Minerva[/name], because of the “l” thing, but I don’t think it’s really necessary. ([name]Florence[/name] [name]Athena[/name] would also work in that regard, but [name]Florence[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] are a bit too match-y together. And I’m not really a fan of Elletra or Adella, although they would be fine, too.)
[name]Glad[/name] some of these ideas are clicking. Also, can I say that I think [name]Ariadne[/name] could work as a first for you? I think it goes perfectly with [name]Felix[/name] and very well with her sisters - [name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Iris[/name]?
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Minerva[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Aura[/name]
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Georgina[/name] [name]Xanthe[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Persephone[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Selene[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Diana[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name] [name]Bronwen[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] [name]Athena[/name]
[name]Ariadne[/name] [name]Iris[/name] (Would have to break our theme a bit here but I have to say I really love this combo- hopefully I can convince hubby )
[name]Florence[/name] [name]Athena[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name] [name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Elettra[/name] [name]Rhiannon[/name]
[name]Annora[/name] [name]Eurydice[/name]
[name]Adella[/name] [name]Persephone[/name]
@tk. Loving the name [name]Amabel[/name]! Thanks
PS: I see a lot of suggestions of taking [name]Eugenie[/name] and/or [name]Artemis[/name] back which surprised me. And as much as I would like to berries, I don’t think I could win the battle of trying to put [name]Eugenie[/name] or [name]Artemis[/name] on the list with my husband. As I said before, I think we are quite done with both names…
