Silas vs Cyrus

I love both of these names, and one or both have always found their way back on my list. But obviously, we couldn’t use both. I need your help eliminating one.

  1. Which name is more appealing to you and why?
  2. What vibes do you get from each name?
  3. Which one works with sister [name]Rowan[/name] better?

Thanks Berries.

I like [name]Silas[/name] better, but I like both names. I just think [name]Silas[/name] has a softer feel to it. But [name]Cyrus[/name] does seem more masculine if that matters to you. I think [name]Silas[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] are a nice sibset.

I prefer [name]Silas[/name] and I think it works better with [name]Rowan[/name].

I like [name]Silas[/name] a lot better. I find [name]Cyrus[/name] really ‘country’ sounding and [name]Silas[/name] better matched with [name]Rowan[/name].

I prefer [name]Silas[/name] a lot more. [name]Cyrus[/name] just makes me think of an old man, whereas I think [name]Silas[/name] is more upbeat and goes a lot better with [name]Rowan[/name].

[name]Silas[/name] is softer and seems like an artistic kid’s name.

[name]Cyrus[/name] is a bit more rough and tumble and seems like an athletic kid’s name.

However, I like them both and think they are smart choices.

I like them both, with [name]Cyrus[/name] holding a slight edge for me. I do know a little boy named [name]Silas[/name], and lots of people who first meet him think his name is [name]Cyrus[/name].

[name]Both[/name] are great names of depth and history. I prefer the softer [name]Silas[/name] to the stronger [name]Cyrus[/name] and I blaim [name]Miley[/name] [name]Cyrus[/name] and her father [name]Billy[/name] [name]Ray[/name] for that difference! My image of [name]Silas[/name] is of a spunky, curious, outdoorsy with a mischievous glint in his eye. [name]Cyrus[/name] is more serious, studious and has strong leadership qualities.

I guess I do like [name]Silas[/name] better in general…but [name]Cyrus[/name] has such a cool history and special vibe to it. [name]Miley[/name]/[name]Billy[/name] [name]Ray[/name] does put a damper on it slightly, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. And they both have the awesome nickname [name]Cy[/name] ([name]Si[/name]?)

I love [name]Cyrus[/name] and strongly dislike [name]Silas[/name]. I think [name]Cyrus[/name] is much…classier, maybe? And less bland. [name]Cyrus[/name] feels simultaneously masculine and elegant, while [name]Silas[/name] makes me think of a bigoted villain character in a period piece for some reason.

As for which goes better with [name]Rowan[/name]…hmm. I think they both match to the same degree. I want to say [name]Cyrus[/name] but I think that’s just me being biased. [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is lovely, by the way.

I think [name]Silas[/name] is way better than [name]Cyrus[/name]! A [name]Silas[/name] sounds like he’d be intelligent, artsy, introspective, funny…

[name]Cyrus[/name] sounds country, even trashy. I definitely think of the [name]Miley[/name]/[name]Billy[/name] [name]Ray[/name] connection…

[name]Silas[/name] works better with [name]Rowan[/name] too.

  1. Which name is more appealing to you and why? I like both, I like the Biblical connection of [name]Silas[/name], but I like the option of [name]Russ[/name] for [name]Cyrus[/name].
  2. What vibes do you get from each name? [name]Silas[/name]: the same as [name]Titus[/name] --young and bold, powerful. [name]Cyrus[/name]: royal, ancient, bookish
  3. Which one works with sister [name]Rowan[/name] better? I’d probably pick [name]Cyrus[/name].
