I’m back w/ another name idea. [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] is still on the list but another name that my husband is liking a lot is [name_m]Silas[/name_m] (nn [name_u]Si[/name_u]). I actually love it too. I got so much great and honest feedback w/ [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] that I thought I’d ask what people think of [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and how does it sound w/ sisters Mhairi and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]? Is it too different? Could it work? All opinions appreciated! Not due until [name_u]March[/name_u] so have a long time to toy w/ all these name ideas. I’m too chicken to run them by my family yet haha
I really like the name [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. It’s one of those “old man” names that really works, like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], for example. So glad to see some [name_m]Silas[/name_m] love on the forums!
I like [name_m]Silas[/name_m] for a lot of the same reasons I picked [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. It’s a great name. A friend of mine just recently had a baby [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and I was thrilled to hear the name used 
I think it works great with your girls’ names - better than [name_m]Edgar[/name_m].
I really like [name_m]Silas[/name_m], I think is handsome and I have never met anyone with this name which makes me like it more. I think [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] works better with Mhairi and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].

I’m not such a big fan of [name_m]Silas[/name_m] (one of my cousins used it for her son), I can’t help but think of [name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs whenever I hear it
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] is an awesome name. It’s one of those few names that sounds good in almost any sibset. It’s uncommon but classic, and has a cool, smooth sound to it.
[name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_m]Silas[/name_m] : ) I think [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] [name_m]Silas[/name_m] would work great too, unless you want to stick with using a Gaelic name somewhere in the mix : )
I like it and think it sounds good with your other children’s names. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] seems to be getting quite a bit more popular. I’m not sure if this is something that would concern you or not but I figured I’d point it out in case popularity is a consideration for you.
I don’t want a name that’s super popular. But I don’t mind moderate popularity. I’ve never met or heard of a [name_m]Silas[/name_m] in real life so not overly worried about popularity here.
I like [name_m]Silas[/name_m] a lot. It sounds great with Mhairi and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]. It is a name that’s been climbing the charts fairly quickly, but I don’t think there’s any danger of it becoming a top 10. Good choice.

I know a couple young [name_m]Silas[/name_m] boys, so I think it is getting a bit more popular. Especially among conservative Christians looking for Biblical names that are not overdone. However, I doubt it’s in danger of top ten anytime soon. It always makes me laugh, too, as I have a nearly-30 yr old cousin named [name_m]Silas[/name_m], and his name always seemed ONLY his until a couple years ago when I met a little [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
For what its worth, my cousin has always worn it well, and it’s a very usable name even though it’s not super common. No pronunciation issues, simple spelling, etc. And a good Victorian/Biblical/literary vibe, as well. He did get an occasional “[name_f]Silence[/name_f] of the Lambs” joke, I think, but I don’t think it was enough to be really annoying.
Also, I missed the [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] thread, but, personally, I love [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] as a funkier [name_m]Ed[/name_m]- name. Not sure I’d be daring enough to use it, but I think it works with your girl names.
I like [name_m]Silas[/name_m], and think it works in your sibset. I slightly prefer [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] with your girls, though.
Thanks so much for all the feedback! I really love [name_m]Silas[/name_m] now but my husband has decided he could never actually use it! But he loves [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] but we’ll see. Not sure I’m brave enough but he sees no issues w/ [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] at all.
