I recently saw this name on youtube, and I thought it was quite interesting, it reminds me of [name_f]Silky[/name_f], from ‘The [name_u]Magic[/name_u] Faraway Tree’, so it does seem vaguely whimsicle and fairy-like to me.
There isnt much about [name_f]Silke[/name_f] online, so im curious to know what you guys think of it? Is it weird, pretty, unusable, etc?
Oh, thought I might clarify, it is most commonly pronounced like silk-eh, it has a similar ending to [name_f]Hilde[/name_f]!
I think middle aged woman. It’s common enough in Germany but in the 40-60 age bracket. You do get you get young Silkes but all the ones I know personally are older. Purely phonetically it’s pretty. It’s more of a soft z sound at the beginning than an S.
Having done some research to backup my gut feel, it was Top 20 from 1964 to 1975 but was only given to around 50 girls between 2006 and 2018. It’s a Low [name_m]German[/name_m] version of [name_f]Celia[/name_f] so would mean blind.
It’s okay. I don’t like how similar to sounds to [name_f]Silky[/name_f]. I prefer the sound of [name_f]Selkie[/name_f] but it’s not useable. I think [name_f]Silke[/name_f] is usable i’m just not a big fan.
