Silvanus / Silvain

I recently “discovered” the name [name]Silvanus[/name]. [name]Silvanus[/name] is a [name]Roman[/name] deity of woods and forests. [name]Silvain[/name] is a Latinized version of [name]Silvanus[/name].

[name]Sylvan[/name] has become rather commonly suggested on Nameberry.

I was just wondering about usability, nicknames and if anyone likes the names more compared to [name]Sylvan[/name].

I’m also wondering if a boy named [name]Silvain[/name] would be called [name]Silly[/name] or Vain.

Thanks!

I think those are some pretty cool names! For some reason they make me think of van Helsing. They just sound bad ass! I prefer [name]Silvain[/name], I just like the way it sounds. [name]Sylvan[/name] does seem rather common on Nameberry. I would worry about teasing with the “silly” aspect but I don’t think kids would know what vain is. I would still use it with those worries.

[name]How[/name] are these all pronounced? If I’m saying them correctly I like them…
