Why can’t you see similar names or comment on unisex names?
You can comment on names that are in the NB database as unisex, however you have to click through to one or other of the gendered pages to do so. The comments section on pages for unisex names tend to be full of “I prefer this on a boy” or “Works just as well for a girl,” no matter which gender you choose. Likewise, the “Similar Names” option should give you lots of similarly unisex suggestions, no matter which gender you click through from.
