Due in a few weeks and still debating names. My husband and I are agreeable to [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. Middle name will be [name_m]Richard[/name_m]. First born is son [name_m]Joel[/name_m].
I like the name [name_m]Jonah[/name_m], but not sure if [name_m]Joel[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] are too similar sounding. I like [name_m]Simon[/name_m], but our last name is [name_m]Baker[/name_m] (I had posted about this previously and the consensus was naming him [name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m] (just like the actor) isn’t weird). I could also see giving him the nn [name_u]Si[/name_u] ([name_m]Sy[/name_m]) and it rhymes with [name_m]Guy[/name_m], so I’d probably call him [name_u]Si[/name_u] [name_m]Guy[/name_m] or [name_m]Guy[/name_m] at times.
For me, [name_m]Joel[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] would be too similar since they both start with “[name_u]Jo[/name_u].” For your family I prefer [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. It’s a handsome name and I dig the name’s meaning.
I like [name_m]Joel[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] might be a little too similar, and I prefer [name_m]Simon[/name_m] anyway. Never heard of the actor
I love both [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]… I agree that [name_m]Joel[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] are a bit similar, but it’s not a deal breaker!
As for [name_m]Simon[/name_m], I don’t know the association to [name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Baker[/name_m]. So I wouldn’t worry about that being the first imagery for people when they hear the name.
Since your open to suggestions:
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonas[/name_m]
[name_m]Ian[/name_m]
[name_u]Jaden[/name_u]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_m]Judas[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonathon[/name_m]
[name_m]Jason[/name_m]
[name_u]Luca[/name_u]
[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]
Personally I much prefer [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]. To me [name_m]Simon[/name_m] is a little dated and doesn’t match with [name_m]Joel[/name_m], for me [name_m]Joel[/name_m] is a classic name but still sounds cool and modern.
You mentioned you might give [name_m]Simon[/name_m] the nickname [name_m]Guy[/name_m] … I actually think [name_m]Joel[/name_m] and [name_m]Guy[/name_m] make a lovely brother combination so why not go for [name_m]Guy[/name_m]?
I love [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and am so-so on [name_m]Simon[/name_m]. But [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] and [name_m]Joel[/name_m] do sound kind of alike. I’d say either way is fine.
[name_m]Joel[/name_m] and [name_m]Jonah[/name_m] a bit matchy for siblings but I don’t like the name [name_m]Simon[/name_m] much at all so would vote for [name_m]Jonah[/name_m].
