Simone vs Hazel

Which do you prefer? They are both a little exotic which I love

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f], by a mile. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] makes me think of a posh snooty girl who goes to private school. It also has the word moan in it which puts my off it more.

[name_u]Simone[/name_u] is a little exotic but I wouldn’t define [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] with that adjective. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is smooth, sophisticated, chic and [name_m]French[/name_m]. I’ve always had a soft spot for the name as I grew up reading [name_m]French[/name_m] feminist author and philopsher [name_u]Simone[/name_u] de Beauvoir and watching [name_m]French[/name_m] actress [name_u]Simone[/name_u] Signoret (now this lady was exotic looking). The only image I have of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is of the maid character on the 60’s TV show “[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]” starring [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] [name_m]Booth[/name_m]. Not exactly glamorous and exotic. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is ok and I like the nature association but I don’t “get” the enormous amount of love the name receives from many Berries. Give me [name_u]Simone[/name_u] any day.

[name_u]Simone[/name_u]! So lovely and [name_m]French[/name_m] and underused.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] I find very dull yet trying to be pretentious. On nameberry it’s viewed as vintage-naturey like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f], but where I live it’s very middle aged - more along the lines of [name_f]Heather[/name_f]. Yuck. It’s also getting quite trendy in the US, I believe?

[name_u]Simone[/name_u] just sounds prettier, strong and subtle, I love it. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] sounds more hipstery to my ear, and more harsh.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f], by a mile. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] sounds dated to me, everyone I know with that name is in their thirties. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is simple and sophisticated, with a lovely nature association.

Definitely [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], it’s sounds young and friendly and of course pretty. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] doesn’t sound all too pretty to me and it does sound dated and kind of serious.

[name_u]Simone[/name_u] is more exotic in my opinion, and also a good bit prettier. I think [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is more unique and retains its french vibes.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is vintage but I wouldn’t call it exotic, I can see it landing in the top 100 within the next few years.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] just doesn’t sound nice to me. I have known a few [name_u]Simone[/name_u]'s and I’ve never liked it.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is beautiful and simple - however, it’s about to spike in popularity (me thinks) because of The Fault In Our Stars.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is great but [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is a bit clunky to my ears.

I don’t really have a preference, but I do know sisters named [name_u]Simone[/name_u] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]!

My vote goes to [name_u]Simone[/name_u]. I think the name is so pretty.

I don’t think of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] as exotic, but I see how [name_u]Simone[/name_u] has that quality. I think that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] sounds more like something that I would expect to find in a 2014 birth announcement. It is a bit hipstery, but I think in a good way. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is kind of zippy, nerdy cool, a little trendy. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] is sophisticated and more timeless and feels a bit more rare.

On any other week I would have said [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. But I saw an episode of Extreme Parenting where [name_m]Bill[/name_m] & [name_u]Scout[/name_u] Masterson-Horn were on it with their daughter, [name_u]Simone[/name_u], who is so fiery and cute. So, now that name has a certain charm for me. I personally would use [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], but I am crushing on [name_u]Simone[/name_u] big time right now.

[name_u]Simone[/name_u], hands down. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is sweet but has gotten such hype with all the other trendy “grandma” names. (i.e. [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Mildred[/name_f]…etc) Not that i’m not totally down with some rockin’ g-ma names…[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is just the one that is most hum drum to me. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] conjures images waaaay more sophisticated and classy than a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], but I’m slightly biased since its a family name for me!

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is sooooo much nicer. [name_u]Simone[/name_u] reminds me of the 80’s.

[name_u]Simone[/name_u] feels more sleek, sophisticated, international, and chic. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] sounds very American to me, down to earth, and in touch with nature. A country girl. [name_m]Both[/name_m] names are lovely, and very different. Tough choice!

I like both names, but [name_u]Simone[/name_u] has never felt that memorable to me. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is more my style, but I love vintage names.

[name_u]Simone[/name_u] vs [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] reads (to me) [name_m]French[/name_m] writer vs. maid. I prefer [name_u]Simone[/name_u], though it’s low on my list of favorite [name_m]French[/name_m] names.
