Today I met a lovely girl called Siofra (Shee-fra) in one of my tutorials. It sounded so pretty I wanted to pitch it to you berries.
It means “elf, sprite” in Irish Gaelic (on behindthename.com), but it might also mean changeling.
Thoughts?
I find it very beautiful and would use it in a heartbeat if it didn’t sound so ridiculous with our surname.
I think its a new favorite for me, plus it helps that the girl was very friendly and helpful. I might ask more about her name as we’ve been put in the same group for an assignment.
I’ve heard it before, but not in practice. Pretty neat! It totally isn’t my style, but it’s neat.
It’s pretty. There’s also a Hebrew name, [name]Shifra[/name] (said more like Shih-frah) that i like - it means “beautiful.”
[name]Shifra[/name] is lovely, though I think I’m still leaning to the spelling Siofra.
Siofra is pretty! I hadn’t seen or heard it before, but with that pronunciation I guessed it was Gaelic. I love Gaelic names. This one may have to go on my list to be pondered awhile.
I really like it! I think it would be difficult for most people to say without hearing it first, or remembering how to write it, but like any name, they’d get used to it.
