Our first child is [name]Annabelle[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and we are expecting our second in [name]July[/name]. We won’t find out the sex so we (mostly me ) are working on a girls name, but are struggling. We have [name]Frederick[/name] [name]Charles[/name] for a boy.
I like classic/traditional names, without being too common (or used by family like [name]Madeline[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Emmaline[/name], [name]Clare[/name], [name]Lilly[/name], [name]Rubie[/name], [name]Sophie[/name]). Some that we are tossing around are…
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] -not sure about [name]Lucy[/name] because the last name is 4 syllables and ends in -ski. Too rhyming with -cy and -ski?
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]
P.s. my husband has vetoed [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Eva[/name], and [name]Beatrice[/name]/[name]Beatrix[/name] for a first name. He has always loved [name]Miriam[/name], but I don’t know about that one.
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] has been on my own list! Quite lovely!
I don’t think the the [name]Lucy[/name] thing is too much an issue, since your last name is quite a bit longer than [name]Lucy[/name]. It separates out the rhyme. But if you don’t love [name]Lucy[/name] more than any other name you could keep looking just to avoid any concern. I think [name]Lucia[/name] is quite pretty and it kind of solves that one problem, too.
Considering [name]Frederick[/name] may be a future brother, [name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Eleanor[/name] seem truest to the style. But none other than [name]Gwyneth[/name] seems kind of an odd one for joining those names.
I agree with PP about [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] being a tad more popular than the others but I don’t think they’re soaring to the top either ([name]Violet[/name] might though - it’s still a good stylistic match though) and it’s not like [name]Annabelle[/name] is super-rare. I think style matching is more important than popularity matching (although if you have concerns about popularity beyond that that’s fair).
Thank you for all your thoughts. I forgot another option I’d thought of…[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Beatrix[/name].
