Sister for Asa

Not sure whether we are having a boy or a girl yet, but I’m more confident in my boy name list than my girl name list. Our son’s name is [name]Asa[/name] [name]Luke[/name]. If we have another boy, we will probably call him [name]Soren[/name] [name]Michael[/name]. DH is really in love with the name [name]Penelope[/name] [name]June[/name] for a girl, but I’m just so so on it. So here are a few names that have struck me lately (my taste is all over the place, and I’m open to all suggestions):
[name]Cerys[/name]
[name]True[/name]
[name]Pax[/name]
[name]Paige[/name]
[name]Loughlin[/name], [name]Loch[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Etta[/name]
[name]Thea[/name]

[name]Pleasant[/name] combinations and middles? Also likes?
Also, is [name]Soren[/name] for a girl crazy bad or crazy good? Or maybe just meh?

[name]TIA[/name], Berries

From your list, I like [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Willa[/name] and [name]Thea[/name] for [name]Asa[/name]'s sister. [name]Soren[/name] is all boy in my opinion so it sounds too masculine for a girl. I think [name]Paige[/name] makes a great middle name choice. You have a mix of styles on your list so here are some other suggestions.

[name]Lila[/name]
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Dinah[/name]
[name]Naomi[/name]
[name]Bethany[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Bridget[/name]
[name]Keira[/name]
[name]Briony[/name]/[name]Bryony[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Briar[/name]
[name]Verity[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name]
[name]Eden[/name]
[name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Bronwen[/name]
[name]Clio[/name]
Léonie
[name]Greta[/name]/[name]Gretchen[/name]
[name]Margot[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Hollis[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Oakley[/name]
[name]Thora[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name]
[name]Frida[/name]
[name]Signy[/name]
[name]Ingrid[/name]
[name]Shannon[/name]
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
[name]Hadley[/name]
[name]Maren[/name]
[name]Tatum[/name]
[name]Clarity[/name]
[name]Juno[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Linden[/name]
[name]Seren[/name] (female alternative to [name]Soren[/name])

Oh [name]Cerys[/name] actually is on my list too  I think the nickname “Care” is adorable.
[name]True[/name] is more word than name to me.
[name]Pax[/name] does not look like a girl’s name to me.
[name]Paige[/name] is lovely. I like that it’s one syllable but I feel the “ai” spelling with the “jeh” sound give it character.
[name]Loughlin[/name] or [name]Loch[/name]? I was singing the names [name]Loughlin[/name] and [name]Loch[/name] all day! I like saying it and I believe either would be a daring first. To me, I just like saying “[name]Loughlin[/name]” and “[name]Loch[/name]” - especially if you can pronounce it correctly. But I do like it.
Also, [name]Willa[/name] is getting a lot of attention on Nameberry: possibly due to the lovely “[name]Willow[/name]”. I predict we’ll be hearing about more Willas more often in the future.
[name]Etta[/name] is cute. I’m fond of [name]Etta[/name].
[name]Thea[/name] is understated and chic to me.

It seems we share similar tastes at the moment!

By the way, [name]Soren[/name] for a girl isn’t so outrageous. Similar female names would be: [name]Serena[/name], [name]Sora[/name], and [name]Soraya[/name].

Here are combinations from your list I would suggest:

[name]Cerys[/name] [name]Paige[/name]
[name]Thea[/name] [name]Loch[/name]/[name]Thea[/name] [name]Loughlin[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Paige[/name]
[name]Etta[/name] [name]Cerys[/name]

[name]Etta[/name] [name]Soren[/name]
[name]Soren[/name] [name]Cerys[/name]

love thea just dont think it goes well with asa

not sure about soren but sounds fine on a girl

dogey typing due to kindle

I love your taste. I love the idea of brothers named [name]Asa[/name] and [name]Soren[/name]. I don’t think [name]Soren[/name] would be terrible on a girl- I might prefer [name]Sorrel[/name]. I think [name]Penelope[/name] is lovely- [name]Penelope[/name] [name]True[/name], perhaps? I also like [name]Etta[/name], [name]Cerys[/name], and [name]Thea[/name]. Others-

[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Bronwyn[/name]
[name]Bree[/name]
[name]Clover[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Ellery[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]

Those names are kind of all over the place, too. [name]Just[/name] throwing things out there.

Thank you thank you for all the input!

A little more background for some of the names on my list.
I was really thinking of [name]True[/name] and [name]Pax[/name] as middles.
[name]Paige[/name] is my own middle and I really love it for a great sounding middle as well as a punchy first.
[name]Loughlin[/name] and [name]Loch[/name] are a from my maiden name. I just really like the idea of my last name being passed on to one of my kids. And I love how they sound, too.
I named a foster dog [name]Willa[/name] years ago. I thought [name]Willis[/name] was an awesome name for a dog, but this dog was a female, so I changed it to [name]Willa[/name] and really fell in love with that name. Might be tough for DH to make the cognitive leap from doggy to precious baby girl. Also our friends will probably think we named the baby after the dog. But that matters little to me. Eventually the memory of our crazy crooky faced foster dog would fade and baby girl would own [name]Willa[/name]. I am a little concerned about a surge in popularity, though. [name]William[/name] is so popular for a boy and [name]Willow[/name] is certainly on the rise. I’ve actually already met a couple of little Willas lately…
[name]Cerys[/name], [name]Etta[/name], and [name]Thea[/name] are just names that I think are lovely.

From your lists I love:
mischa’s
[name]Violet[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name] (my niece’s middle)
[name]Hollis[/name] (but I really associate that name with the old guy from Northern Exposure)
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Maren[/name]
[name]Seren[/name] (so lovely!)

hoist, I love all your combos, but my favorite are:
[name]Thea[/name] [name]Loch[/name] and [name]Willa[/name] [name]Paige[/name]

whirligig, I was thinking that [name]Thea[/name] and [name]Asa[/name] sounded ok together because they share the same long /a/. But they also share the schwa ending, so maybe that’s too much. Also [name]Asa[/name] and [name]Etta[/name] may be too matchy…

I do like [name]Penelope[/name], too. I’m just not super fond of [name]Penny[/name], and I know that nickname would be inevitable with DH and the rest of my family. [name]Penelope[/name] [name]True[/name] is super sweet, though.

A lot to think about. What it’s going to come down to, though, is what DH will agree to. He has this habit of saying, “I don’t like it,” immediately after I suggest a name. Then a month or so later he’s like, “I like the name ____.” The same name I suggested, as though he just thought of it himself. He didn’t like [name]Asa[/name] much when I suggested it initially, but recently told me he thought we picked the perfect name for our son. He didn’t care for [name]Soren[/name] when I was pregnant with [name]Asa[/name], but now he is set on [name]Soren[/name] [name]Michael[/name] for this one. I’ll just have to keep planting seeds and see which ones sprout for him.

I love this process, though. It has really been helping me wrap my brain around the fact that we are having another baby so soon after our first. They will only be 17 1/2 months apart!

Thanks again!

I love your sons name! [name]Soren[/name] is really nice too and I think [name]Penelope[/name] [name]June[/name] is adorable.

I’m usually a fan of boy names on girls BUT I would avoid that as your son has a name that some people might consider a girls name first. If I heard of the sibset [name]Asa[/name] and [name]Soren[/name] and one told me that one was a girl I’d guess [name]Asa[/name] (though I know it’s a boy name, still sounds more feminine than [name]Soren[/name]). So yeah, I’d avoid that.

Also I don’t really like [name]Loch[/name] as it means “Hole” in [name]German[/name] and to me even has a kind of sexual association going with it. But probably no one will know that in the States, so of course it’s usable.

I also like [name]Thea[/name], [name]Willa[/name], [name]Paige[/name] and [name]Loughlin[/name]. But Peneleope [name]June[/name] is so pretty! [name]Thea[/name] [name]Loughlin[/name] would be nice too.

[name]Soren[/name] is a wonderful name! I like [name]Paige[/name] or [name]Penelope[/name] from your list.

I think [name]Soren[/name] works for a girl, but there’s also [name]Seren[/name] (Welsh for star) which I prefer.

For other names with [name]Asa[/name], how about:

[name]Elsa[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Junia[/name]
[name]Maeve[/name]
[name]Helen[/name] / [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] / [name]Caro[/name]?
