Looking to name Caroline’s sister! My name taste is all over the place. Favorites are Lucy and Lily but sadly cannot use either of those.
Right now my list is:
Summer
Cassidy
Scarlett
Violet
I don’t want a name that ends in an A. Also 3 syllable names that end in N are too similar to our last name. Do you consider Summer and Cassidy too dated? I don’t really care about popularity. Any suggestions are welcome!
I love the name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]! [name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts…
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] isn’t dated, it’s as popular as it’s ever been and isn’t especially associated with any one generation or age group, I think. Honestly it’s been steadily popular for so long at this point (almost 50 years at basically the same position on the charts) that it might become a “classic” name someday.
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] might be dated, it was much more popular 25 years ago so it might be about to become a “mom name”?
Names that remind me of [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] would be:
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_u]Hazel[/name_u]
[name_u]Raven[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Celeste[/name_u]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is dated to me. I would expect a [name_f]Summer[/name_f] to be older but at the same time wouldn’t be surprised to meet a baby [name_f]Summer[/name_f].
[name_f]Summer[/name_f] - bright and sweet - not too dated to me
[name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] - bouncy and lively - not too dated imo. I guess it just depends if you mind the matching initials with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] - sharp and stylish
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] - vintage but fresh
I think [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f] are my faves
For me, [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is a little dated, but [name_f]Summer[/name_f] is perennial (if you’ll forgive the pun!). I think you could go with [name_f]Summer[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], or [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and sound fresh and surprising.
As for alternatives, my top suggestion is Suzette . It means lily. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & [name_f]Suzette[/name_f]
Other alternatives that fit your nature theme and other faves:
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & Birdie
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & Juniper
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & Lacy
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & Lucine
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & Margriet
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & Yvette
I think that from your list, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is the best match for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] also works, but takes [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] in a different direction. [name_f]Summer[/name_f], too.
I personally wouldn’t use [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] because of the matching Ca-, but if that doesn’t bother you, it would work. I would be slightly surprised to meet a baby [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], because my feeling is the name peaked about 20 years ago. But it absolutely still works.
[name_f]My[/name_f] vote is for [name_f]Summer[/name_f]! I actually used to know young sisters named [name_f]Summer[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. They’d probably be preteens now.
The two together are so breezy and effortlessly joyful and warm. I would love to see [name_f]Summer[/name_f] used more!
I’d look for sweet classic names for Caroline’s sister. I do like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] from your list, but not the biggest fan of [name_f]Summer[/name_f] and [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], sorry.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] goes best with [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] in my opinion. I think the start of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] sound too similar.
