[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’m currently expecting my third baby and second girl and we are having the hardest time finding a name for her.
I already have a son named [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and a daughter named [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. Names we’re considering right now are [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Hattie[/name_f], [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], and [name_u]Romy[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband prefers [name_f]Lola[/name_f], but I don’t know if I can get over the “[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]” tv show connection. But I’m also hesitant to use another name ending in that same “ie” sound as [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], which rules out all of the other names on our list.
What do you think? Any and all thoughts and suggestions are welcome!
Love your kids names! I like Lola and Georgie with your others. I don’t know what the ‘Charlie and Lola’ reference is, if that helps. I’m not generally a fan of themed siblings, but in this case, I’d personally go with another (adorable!) boy-ish nickname, ending in -ie or not.
Max
Lou
Jem
Kit
More feminine options:
Rosie
Greta
Scout
Tess/a/ie
Lula
I love your older kiddos’ names! [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] or [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] seems perfect for you, although I do understand what you mean about not wanting too much of a theme. But I think the “ie” ending is common enough that it doesn’t seem over-the-top. I do know the [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] association, and would have thought of it, but it’s not bad! Other suggestions (repeats are seconds, because there have been so many good ones already!)…
Thank you! “[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]” was a kids tv show in the UK (it’s also a book series, but I always think of it as a show because my son used to watch it all the time!)
Charlie & [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] both have a fun vintage gender neutral choices. I think you should continue with this [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] for me is the right vibe but I’ve never been a fan of [name_u]George[/name_u] and his variants including [name_u]Georgie[/name_u]. I think the next choice on your list with the right vibe is [name_u]Romy[/name_u] it’s unisex with the right sound. [name_f]Lola[/name_f] & [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] are also lovely but I think they may feel overtly feminine next to sister [name_u]Frankie[/name_u].
You’ve had a few suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the rest of the berries!
Wow, thank you for all the suggestions! I like [name_u]Billie[/name_u], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], and [name_f]Sally[/name_f]. And [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is a name that I hadn’t heard of until recently, but I really like it!
If you want to avoid another -ie name, how about using [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] or [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]? From your list though I like [name_f]Lola[/name_f] best and haven’t heard of the ‘[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]’ show.
I kind of like [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] because it’s a neutral name and fits with the others very well. I don’t think the matching endings are that big of a deal. But I know it can be.
I do like [name_f]Lola[/name_f] as a name and if you want to avoid “ie” it is a great choice. It’s still a diminutive like the other names, so it does match stylistically. Other suggestions:
Lola is cute, & I think that it goes great w/your crew. I wouldn’t worry about the TV show. It’s not that popular, is it? And even if it is, it’s not a negative connection. I actually know siblings called [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] & [name_f]Lola[/name_f] ([name_f]Lola[/name_f] being a nn for [name_u]Laurel[/name_u]), & little [name_f]Lola[/name_f] had (they’re teens now) a [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] & [name_f]Lola[/name_f] backpack. It’s a fun association.
Here are my thoughts on the rest of your list-
Molly-I like it a lot. It’s super friendly & sweet, but also a little bit bubbly & sporty. It’s informal like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] & [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], but I feel like its substantial on its own at the same time. It’s well known & simple, but not terribly over done.
Hattie-I basically feel the same way here as I do about [name_f]Molly[/name_f]. It’s a little less popular though, which is good. The only thing that I don’t like about [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] is that sometimes it comes out sounding like ‘Haddy’. Maybe that’s just my issue.
Georgie-It is adorable & perfect as a sister to [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]. Are you in the UK or US or other? I feel like [name_u]George[/name_u] for a boy is a little more popular across the pond. There aren’t that many Georgies boy or girl in the U.S., so it seems like using it for a girl seems less confusing if that rambling makes sense.
Romy-I don’t know why, but I don’t love this name. It just sounds kind of heavy or something. It’s not awful though.
Sorry for any repeats, but here are a few suggestions:
As both [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] are unisex (but [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is more common for boys and [name_u]Frankie[/name_u] is more common for girls), it would make sense to go for another unisex name ending in ie/y which is more common for girls than boys. In this case, [name_u]Billie[/name_u] or [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] would be your best bet! In my opinion [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] is a better fit
You knowing siblings [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f] definitely makes me feel better about it! And you’re right, it’s not a negative connotation. Thank you!
I agree that another unisex name ending in ie or y makes sense. [name_f]My[/name_f] worry is that are we then pigeon-holing ourselves so that should we have a fourth we would almost have to choose another unisex, ie ending name?
