Sister for Clementine

Right now if [name]Baby[/name] #2 seems not to be a [name]Matilda[/name] when she arrives, we’d be going back to our list of

to name her. Problem is, hubby’s not completely happy with [name]Beatrix[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name], and I’m not completely happy with [name]Genevieve[/name] or [name]Susannah[/name]. We like them, even love them, but they don’t call to us and say “I am the name for one of your babies”. We’re both happy with [name]Matilda[/name] though, it’s just … what if [name]Matilda[/name] seems wrong when it’s time to actually name?

I would love some other suggestions so I don’t feel so unprepared. Things with a strong d or t sound at the end ([name]Adelaide[/name], [name]Millicent[/name], etc) sound terrible with our last name, so those are all out.

[name]How[/name] about:
[name]Delia[/name] or [name]Cordelia[/name]

Since I love the name [name]Clementine[/name] so much, I just listed some of my favorite names below. I also love all the names on your list above.
[name]Alice[/name] - this is probably kind of short to go with [name]Clementine[/name], but I didn’t want [name]Alice[/name] to feel left out because she is one of my favorites!
[name]Anastasia[/name] nn [name]Tansy[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name] nn Cessie, Cici, [name]Celia[/name]
[name]Delphina[/name] nn [name]Della[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name] nn [name]Dot[/name]
[name]Frances[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Francine[/name] nn [name]Francie[/name]
[name]Gwendolyn[/name] nn [name]Gwen[/name] - I really love this name.
[name]Henrietta[/name] nn [name]Hattie[/name] (I love [name]Hattie[/name] more than [name]Hetty[/name])
[name]Isadora[/name] nn [name]Izzy[/name]
[name]Jacqueline[/name] nn [name]Jackie[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] nn [name]Josie[/name], [name]Fina[/name], [name]Fifi[/name]
[name]Juniper[/name] nn [name]June[/name] - love it!
[name]Louisa[/name] nn [name]Lulu[/name]
[name]Lucinda[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name] - a favorite of mine
[name]Ottilie[/name] nn [name]Tillie[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] nn [name]Penny[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Nell[/name]. Maybe another nn could be [name]Polly[/name].
[name]Rosalie[/name] nn [name]Rose[/name], [name]Rosie[/name]
Rosamel nn [name]Rose[/name], [name]Rosie[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] nn [name]Rosie[/name], [name]Romy[/name], [name]Roxie[/name]. [name]Rosie[/name] is my fave nn of these.
[name]Veronica[/name] nn [name]Vera[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name] nn [name]Vivi[/name]

My favorite of the [name]Rose[/name] names is [name]Rosemary[/name]. Two of my favorite names on the above list are [name]Veronica[/name] and [name]Vivian[/name]. It is fun to say “v”! Also love [name]Francine[/name] nn [name]Francie[/name]! And [name]Lucinda[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name].

I LOVED the name [name]Finley[/name] for years before I even was close to having children. When I was pregnant with my son, however, I didn’t feel that the name was going to fit my firstborn, so I chose a completely different name, [name]Ransom[/name], holding [name]Finley[/name] in reserve for another son.

When my son was born, I took one look at him and knew that he was not [name]Ransom[/name]. 2 days later, he was named [name]Finley[/name] [name]Ransom[/name].

All this to say that even if your daughter doesn’t seem like a [name]Matilda[/name] now, she may when she’s born! And if not, her name will come to you; even if it is one of the names that doesn’t seem just perfect right now, it could be HER name when she arrives!

[name]Don[/name]'t stress yet! Best of luck!

[name]Mathilda[/name] is a lovely name.

I think that [name]Matilda[/name] is beautiful and my combo is [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] and this could easily be reversed to [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] if when you see your baby this name seems to fit better.

All the best!

From your list, I think that [name]Susannah[/name] is my favorite with [name]Clementine[/name], but I love all of the names.

I picture these names with [name]Clementine[/name]:

Good luck!

I particularly like [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name]. Here are some ideas inspired from your list:
[name]Clementine[/name] AND…

Everyone has suggested seemingly already so the only other one I can think of is [name]Evangeline[/name]. Actually that’s the first name I thought of when I read the title. Only now I’m not sure if someone else has suggested it…

[name]Rosie[/name] would be really cute (that girl in Balto gets me everytime) and [name]Lorelai[/name] sounds really nice with [name]Clementine[/name].

[name]Clementine[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], and [name]Genevieve[/name] are all on my personal top 10 too

I’ve always said that I like to wait until I see baby to make sure they fit the name we’ve picked out. Worked with our first. We had picked out [name]Natalie[/name], but only if she had dark hair. She did, so [name]Natalie[/name] it was.

With our second we had picked out [name]Gabriella[/name], but again only if she was dark haired, which I completely expected she would be. The backup was [name]Kirstin[/name] if she was blonde or fair. She came out with lots of dark hair, just like her sister [name]Natalie[/name] had. [name]Gabriella[/name] it was, with [name]Kirstin[/name] eventually decided for mn.

At about 7 weeks her dark hair fell out and grew back in blonde and her dark eyes started to turn the loveliest shade of aqua. In my opinion she completely does not suit her name now and I keep saying that I wish we’d called her [name]Kirstin[/name] after all. She’s nearly two now though so a bit late for that!

We’re expecting our next baby in april and I would love to wait longer to get to know this one before deciding on a name but I live in [name]Scotland[/name] and we only have 21 days to register the birth. Not sure what happens if we want to alter the name after the initial registration.

All the best - hope she suits [name]Matilda[/name] like you both prefer.

[name]Just[/name] a few suggestions. Sorry for any repeats.
