Help! We’re expecting baby #2 in a few short weeks and still haven’t come up w/ a name. Our first DD is [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and we’re expecting another girl. We have an Irish last name (Mc-------), so we like simple and direct names, one or two syllables. I personally prefer vintage/retro names.
I love the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but my husband has nixed that since he has a couple family members with that name (or variations of it).
Our leading contender right now is [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], and we’d call her [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but is that too boring compared to [name_f]Cora[/name_f]? Any other suggestions? Thank you in advance!
Congratulations on number two! I do like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], such a pretty classic, too bad its a no go. I also like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] alot, but I personally do find [name_f]Kate[/name_f] a little boring. [name_m]Just[/name_m] call her [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]! Ok, a few more ideas,
Thanks! I also like [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f]! Good ones to consider.
I love the name [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u]? Two of her daughters are named [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] which go quite nicely.
Everything mentioned above is lovely too.
When I hear [name_f]Cora[/name_f], I would think of her sister being:
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f]
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Greta[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
Sorry for any repeats, good luck!
I also think [name_f]Kate[/name_f]'s a bit boring when compared to [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and rhymes/near rhymes could be really cute like [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Sara[/name_f], or [name_f]Laura[/name_f].
[name_f]Sister[/name_f] for [name_f]Cora[/name_f]:
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (why not just [name_f]Kate[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Esther[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f]

[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Blanche[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] nn [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] nn [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] would make a nice sister name for a sister named [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. I love the alteration, yet they would each have their own initial. I would just always call her [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] and never nickname her. The name is only two syllables; there is no need for it to be shortened.
My youngest daughter, who is now 32, still goes by the name [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]. She always went by her given name. She was never nicknamed [name_f]Kate[/name_f].
Stylistically I think the two names work together very well. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is vintage /retro and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is a true classic. If you call your daughter [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] it has a bit more of a vintage elegant feel than 80’s [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the way the two names sound together.
If you like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], have you considered the Irish name [name_f]Caitriona[/name_f]? Pronounced [name_f]Katrina[/name_f]. Goes well with [name_f]Cora[/name_f]. (My oldest girl is [name_f]Cora[/name_f] too).
