We are having another girl, a sister to [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]. Really struggling with names, especially since [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] came so easily to us. Any thoughts on a sis name?? So far I like all of the names on our list for middles, but not loving them for firsts…
In case you can’t tell, we’re veering kind of away from the mythology thing and more towards nature names as a tie in, but I don’t feel a tie in is necessary as lo as they sound ok together. Thanks!
I know you are steering away from mythology but [name_f]Anthea[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] would be lovely, literal “blossom meadow”. I am a big fan of [name_f]Althea[/name_f] and [name_f]Anthea[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] also came to mind.
I love [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]! [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] is very lovely too but I think it’s a little too “matchy” with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] - both Greek, six letters, contain the “ah” sound and end in “ee”.
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] would be lovely as a combo, I like [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] too if you don’t mind two nature-y names together?
I think [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], and [name_f]Astrid[/name_f] are my favorites too! [name_f]Boheme[/name_f] is really interesting too! I like names, like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], that don’t lend themselves to an easy nickname… Our daughter has tons of Nn’s that are more related to her personality (although I’m sure we’ll be getti lots of “[name_u]Daffy[/name_u]” down the line…).
I adore [name_f]Oona[/name_f]. Would be gorgeous with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. Was going to suggest [name_f]Zinnia[/name_f].
From your original list, I love [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] (though I like [name_f]Oona[/name_f] more than [name_f]Orla[/name_f]).
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] sound great together too, though not a nature name, thought I’d mention it.
My mom is named [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. Her sisters are named: [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] “[name_f]Annie[/name_f]”, & [name_u]Nikki[/name_u]. I like frilly names with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] like [name_f]Delta[/name_f], [name_f]Jessamine[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] (too mythology though), [name_f]Clara[/name_f] (or [name_f]Claire[/name_f]), [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f]/[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]. Good luck!
I think one of the reasons why I’m leaning toward nature names is that that’s what I’d like to “pull” rom [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]'s name. I feel like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] has a lot of gravity to it, which I like, but it’s origin is from the laurel tree, before even from mythology.
how about:
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ailsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Cerise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Rue[/name_u]
[name_f]Audra[/name_f]
hopefully there are some different options there for you
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_f]Audra[/name_f] is quite nice I think… [name_f]Audra[/name_f] [name_f]Xanthe[/name_f] or [name_f]Audra[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] i really like
My favourite sister name for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (it’s a nature name and only those familiar with myths would know it’s a mythological name too). From your list, I think [name_f]Orla[/name_f] or [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] would be ok. Here are some suggestions from various styles and cultures that would work well with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f].
