I posted a few weeks ago looking for literary girl names to pair with my son’s name, [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m] [name_m]Arvid[/name_m]. I’m still not finding “the name” that my husband and I can agree on (thankfully we still have 15 weeks to go) so I’m looking to broaden my search.

I have a few criteria that I consider (but am willing to ignore):

  • a real name (not made up)
  • not overly used in the states
  • natural nickname
  • easy pronunciation (if no natural nickname)

I also am toying with the idea of a surname - like [name_m]Salinger[/name_m] nn [name_f]Sally[/name_f]?

Any other ideas to pair with [name_u]Dash[/name_u]?

I think all your choices are solid and a good pairing with [name_u]Dash[/name_u].

I especially like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] with [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m]. And luckily I don’t think your taste is too off from your husbands.

I think that any of the options you listed would go beautifully with [name_u]Dash[/name_u]! [name_u]Dash[/name_u] and [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] might be a little bit too matchy for me, though I love both names. I think I particularly like [name_u]Dash[/name_u] and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] or [name_u]Dash[/name_u] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f].

If you’re thinking about a surname, maybe [name_u]Willoughby[/name_u]? Then you could get [name_f]Bea[/name_f] or [name_f]Bee[/name_f] from your list and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] from his.
