The only [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] I know is an elderly woman so I can definitely see it on an adult. Or, maybe…
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. I think it feels more modern and is spunkier than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Justine[/name_f]
Seeing that you are looking for a saint’s name, may I suggest:
[name_u]Carmel[/name_u]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
I recommend three two-syllable Irish names with unique endings for you. I think I would use [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] anyway, if your friend is O.K. with it: [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f] {and} [name_f]Bridget[/name_f].
If [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] really isn’t an option, I would still use something close to [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. [name_f]Bridie[/name_f], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_f]Bryony[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]??
I agree that [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] would have been perfect with [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] and [name_f]Moira[/name_f]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and[name_f]Gillian[/name_f] work with her sisters names and a one syllable last name but your concerns about them are enough to consider other options.
What a pity about [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]! [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] and [name_f]Moira[/name_f] are beautiful names, and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] would also fit their retro vibe quite nicely. Some more suggestions:
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f], for sure. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is cute too, but [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] has the lovely Irish sound of [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] and [name_f]Moira[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f] with your other daughter’s. Agree [name_f]Nora[/name_f]/[name_f]Flora[/name_f] are too close to [name_f]Moira[/name_f]. Agree [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] doesn’t age well. I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] - just find it a bit 80’s.
Thank you for all the feedback Ladies. We’ve completely eliminated [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and have a few more up for consideration.
I like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but they nearly rhyme with [name_f]Moira[/name_f].
You’re right about [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. Cute as a nickname, not as a given name.
I have never been an [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] fan.
[name_f]May[/name_f] I suggest: [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f] & [name_f]Fiona[/name_f]?
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] may not be a specific saint’s name, but it could be a female version for St. Fionnchu, [name_u]Abbot[/name_u] of Bangor [name_u]Abbey[/name_u], in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], the successor of St. Comgall (from Catholic Online).
Another suggestion close to [name_f]Gillian[/name_f], but much lovelier is [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] (St. [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] Galgani). [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] also make a beautiful sibsit.
Other saint name suggestions: [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f] & [name_f]Susannah[/name_f] (after St. [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]), [name_f]Eileen[/name_f], [name_f]Moira[/name_f] & [name_f]Philomena[/name_f].
According to Catholic Online: [name_f]Moira[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Gillian[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] are not specific saints’ names.
I voted for [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f], both stunning names that sound amazing with [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] and [name_f]Moira[/name_f] (lovely names, by the way!)
I love [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] as well, but I have the same issue with not being able to imagine it on a grown woman, and as attached as I am to both [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f], I see what you’re getting at with them sounding like [name_f]Moira[/name_f].
Congrats, and hope you settle on a name you love!
Eileen is an Irish variation of Helen and Moira of Mary. Gillian is a form of Julianna (an Italian saint), Maisie is a common nickname for Margaret and Nora is short for St. Honora (-:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] got my vote, a good old classic with great associations, but, if it being too common bothers you, moving on… [name_f]Gillian[/name_f] would fit brilliantly with [name_f]Eileen[/name_f] & [name_f]Moira[/name_f], however, if your partner’s really not keen on it, probably not the best.
