[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I am pregnant with our third baby who is due in [name_u]December[/name_u]. This little baby girl will be joining big sister [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and big brother [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m]. DH and I always have a pretty easy time coming up with girl names but nothing is really jumping out at me. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and would pick that in a heartbeat but DH hates it, so that’s out. Here are some of our contenders:
As you can see, baby girl’s middle name will be either [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Anne[/name_f] (after my mom). Right now [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is our favorite but I’m not sure it goes with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]? What do you all think? Also, what other names do you suggest?
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely, it flows well, fits in with [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] perfectly, and is so elegant!
While I love both [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Anne[/name_f], I don’t feel that they fit especially well as a combination. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is lovely though.
[name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] make a lovely set! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is sweet but doesn’t seem substantial compared to siblings, in my opinion, and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is great, but I don’t love it with [name_m]George[/name_m]…Seems we have similar taste in names so I’ll share a few names that come to mind…
Since you like [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
I agree that [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] doesn’t feel as substantial as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_m]George[/name_m]. I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] but not with [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be my first choice. I like many of these suggestions particularly [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f]/[name_f]Helen[/name_f] & [name_f]Claire[/name_f]. [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is pretty! What about [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] as a first? I think that would go great! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m] & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
I love the idea of adding [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to your tribe! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! Adorable! Alternatives to [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] you may like: [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] or [name_f]Martha[/name_f]?
Looking back on all of these, I think I like [name_f]Martha[/name_f] with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] best. Any ones you like? Good luck!
I agree that [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a great combination, but doesn’t seem as substantial as [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]/[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are my top choices for you.
While I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f], it doesn’t seem to go well with your mns. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] works well, but I’d go with [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is fine, but a little sweet compared to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be great as a fn. Some of the other suggestions I love above for you are [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f].
A few more possibilities:
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_m]George[/name_m], and
I really enjoy how none of your options end in “a”. As lovely as [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is, I think that “a” ending is too typical to go in a sibset with names ending in rare ‘r’ and ‘g’ sounds.
I think that [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] is one of the most perfect sibsets I’ve ever heard.
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] just seems sort of loud and abrupt next to the quiet, refined [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]. Plus the “y” ending is fairly typical.
I dislike the sound of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] as siblings.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is yet another name with an “o” sound. The long “o” is already present in both [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]. I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] sounds like overkill. To be totally honest, it sounds boring.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] are all gentle, flowing, and each balances the other. With [name_f]Violet[/name_f], the “o” is present, but the clearer and stronger sound is from the long “i”. I love how each of your children would have names that end in “t”, “r” and “g” sounds. It makes your choices seem unique even though they are all traditional names.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m]! To die for!
Oh, I almost forgot… if you’re still undecided after a while, consider [name_f]Anne[/name_f]. [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] would be a very lovely, if conservative, set of names for your children.
