Expecting our third, a girl, in a few weeks and can’t agree on a name. [name]Ezra[/name] is the oldest boy and [name]Eden[/name] is our daughter. We do not need an “E” name, although my husband likes [name]Emmy[/name] for a nickname.
I want a name that has Jewish or Hebrew origins or is nature-inspired. Want to keep the name kind of short and sweet like my two older ones but equally happy with a zippy nickname instead. We are having a hard time agreeing on a name and baby#3 is due soon!
Some names I like and my husband like, but we can’t both agree on…
[name]Ivy[/name], [name]Tamar[/name], [name]Maya[/name], [name]Aliya[/name], [name]Jordan[/name]/[name]Jordana[/name], [name]Arden[/name], [name]Ari[/name] (but I hate the longer [name]Arielle[/name]), [name]Emanuelle[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name] (shortened to [name]Emmy[/name])
From your list I like [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] and [name]Ari[/name]. If you don’t like [name]Arielle[/name] how about another name like [name]Aria[/name] or [name]Ariana[/name].
[name]Elizabeth[/name] to be tricky was my first thought. Call her [name]Beth[/name], [name]Betty[/name], or [name]Betsy[/name] and have the best of both worlds. A third E and non E name.
Another one would [name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Nora[/name].
I do like [name]Ivy[/name] and [name]Maya[/name].
I prefer [name]Jordan[/name] for boys. Plus I think its themey with [name]Eden[/name].
Have you considered [name]Arianna[/name] for [name]Ari[/name]?
[name]Tamar[/name] doesn’t seem zippy to me, but its a nice name. And [name]Tammy[/name] sounds dated.
I like [name]Emmy[/name], [name]Emmanuelle[/name], and [name]Emilia[/name].
Other suggestions:
[name]Eliana[/name], [name]Eliora[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Evelina[/name],
[name]Lark[/name],
[name]Sadie[/name], (form of [name]Sarah[/name])
[name]Stella[/name], (means star as does [name]Esther[/name])
[name]Elyse[/name],
[name]Noemi[/name], (form of [name]Naomi[/name])
and
[name]Meriel[/name] (form of [name]Muriel[/name])
Good [name]Luck[/name]!
I should have also clarified that my sister’s daughter is [name]Elle[/name], so no E names that start with [name]EL[/name]. I wish my hubby could agree with me on [name]Ivy[/name]. That and [name]Noa[/name] were my top picks but he dislikes both. While I like [name]Maya[/name], I think it’s way too popular. Our last name is Bloom, so my husband doesn’t want names that are too flowery – too bad! I have to find a hidden kind of nature name that doesn’t sound too hippy. [name]Tamar[/name] was a great suggestion, but don’t love the story behind that name in the old testament.
[name]Tali[/name] is also a great suggestion. Short, zippy name that means “dew” in Hebrew.
And I love [name]Isla[/name] even though I think it’s Irish, but my other nieces name is [name]Kyla[/name], so not sure about that one.
Would [name]Jordana[/name] be a better fit compared to [name]Jordan[/name]? [name]Jordy[/name] is kind of a cute nickname, but the name sounds pretty '80’s, and doesn’t really fit with her 2-syllable siblings.
Getting anxious – my due date is in 8 days! Please keep the suggestions coming?
[name]Elizabeth[/name] is okay, but the nn I like for it is [name]Livy[/name] or [name]Libby[/name]. [name]Tammy[/name] I dislike as well, even though [name]Tamar[/name] is really nice.
[name]Nora[/name] is beautiful. I’ll run it by my hubby. I also like the nickname [name]Mimi[/name], but can’t think of a great FIRST NAME that would shorten to it. Same with the [name]Ari[/name] NN. I like it on its own, but don’t want her confused with a boy. I do think it’s very strong sounding – means [name]Lion[/name] in Hebrew.
I think [name]Emanuelle[/name]/[name]Emilia[/name] (shortened to [name]Emmy[/name]) is your best option. It gets the best of both worlds, basically he gets [name]Emmy[/name] and you get the longer name.
Personally I would stick with the E theme to avoid the 3rd one being left out, but that’s just my preference.
Some other options:
Emuna
[name]Eliana[/name]
[name]Ester[/name]/[name]Esther[/name]
[name]Etana[/name]
[name]Eliora[/name]
[name]Elora[/name]
[name]Eila[/name]
[name]Elka[/name]
[name]Elsie[/name]
[name]Elzira[/name]
[name]Estrela[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Evette[/name]
[name]Eviana[/name]
[name]Evita[/name]
I love [name]Ari[/name], or even [name]Aria[/name]. Also love [name]Maya[/name] and [name]Aliya[/name] from your list. I think it would be cute to keep with the E names!
[name]Elisabeth[/name]
[name]Elise[/name]
[name]Ellyse[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] nn [name]Ellie[/name]
[name]Elodie[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name]
[name]Everly[/name]/Everleigh
[name]Isabella[/name]/[name]Gabriella[/name]/[name]Bella[/name] … anything like that could be shortened to [name]Ella[/name]
[name]Do[/name] you plan on having more children? If you chose a 3rd E name, then you are definitely boxed into E names for the rest, it seems to me. Choosing a non-E name frees you up for future children. [name]Even[/name] if this 3rd one is the last, I think a non-E name would be a good choice. You mentioned [name]Tali[/name]. Others suggested [name]Talia[/name], and that flows nicely with the others. [name]Ivy[/name] is beautiful, and it’s short and simple like the other two. Plus it also starts with a vowel, too. Perhaps your husband will come around…??? Good luck!
Ps. I really love [name]Eden[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name]. They are wonderful names. I like your taste.
i know an Emunah nn [name]Emmy[/name]. You could also have [name]Emmy[/name] be short for the initials ME. Other Hebrew names that might work -
Meital (nn [name]Tali[/name])
Maayan
[name]Moriah[/name]
[name]Raya[/name]
[name]Rina[/name]
Temima (i love it w/ the nn Temi, unfortunately DH does not)
[name]Dalia[/name]
[name]Livia[/name]/[name]Levia[/name] (nn [name]Livy[/name])
[name]Atara[/name] (nn [name]Ari[/name]?)
[name]Oria[/name]/[name]Orly[/name]/[name]Liora[/name] (if you like [name]Mimi[/name], would you go for [name]Lili[/name]?)
My favorites from your list are [name]Emmanuelle[/name] and [name]Emilia[/name].
I really love the suggestion of [name]Elodie[/name]! What about [name]Elowen[/name]? Maybe nn [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Elle[/name], or [name]Winnie[/name]?
[name]Eila[/name] is of Hebrew origin. Its pronounced the same as [name]Isla[/name] which is Scottish. I love it and it fits perfect with sib set. I also love [name]Emilia[/name] and [name]Emery[/name].
I like the suggestion of [name]Emilia[/name] (nn [name]Emmy[/name])–so cute! Of course, you could use [name]Emmy[/name] on its own and that would be adorable as well! Here are some others I thought of:
Timnah (a Biblical place name)
[name]Anna[/name] (simple, but so sweet!)
[name]Liza[/name]/[name]Lise[/name]
[name]Lea[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Moriah[/name]
[name]Marie[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name] (nn [name]Abby[/name]… Or you could use it on its own!)
[name]Noa[/name] was my first thought, too bad your husband doesn’t like it! [name]Tali[/name] is a great one too…I love so many [name]Tal[/name]- names…[name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Talitha[/name], Talia, [name]Tali[/name] by itself, even just plain [name]Tal[/name] (m/f).
hmmm… really like [name]Eila[/name], but think the spelling/pronounciation will be tough.
We’re down to [name]Maya[/name], [name]Ari[/name]/[name]Ariana[/name], [name]Emilia[/name]/[name]Emmy[/name], [name]Eila[/name]/[name]Isla[/name], [name]Jordana[/name], or [name]Aliya[/name]/[name]Liya[/name], Still can’t decide!
