Sister for Gabriel Quinn

[name]Hi[/name]
I’m expecting a girl in [name]May[/name]. Big brother is [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] and DH and I cannot agree on a girls name!
He has turned down everything I like, such as :

He likes: [name]Cara[/name]

Any suggestions?? Thanks!

I really like the name [name]Gabriel[/name]. Strong and fun to say. Let’s see, [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Leah[/name] and [name]Elisabeth[/name] are your choices. [name]Cara[/name] is your husband’s choice.
Of all your choices, my favorite is [name]Elisabeth[/name] because that is my favorite name. It’s my daughter’s middle name. Actually her name is [name]Elizabeth[/name]. But I do agree with [name]Melissa[/name] (post below) that [name]Elisabeth[/name] isn’t as strong as [name]Gabriel[/name].
However [name]Elisabeth[/name] and [name]Gabriel[/name] are both Hebrew names with lots of syllables. [name]Elisabeth[/name] has so many nicknames to choose from. I do prefer [name]Elizabeth[/name] to [name]Elisabeth[/name] because I love the nicknames [name]Eliza[/name], [name]Liza[/name], and [name]Lizzie[/name], but you could get those names from [name]Elisabeth[/name] if you like them a lot. [name]Elise[/name] is pretty, and I think it sounds very good with [name]Gabriel[/name].
A great compromise with your husband could be to name your daughter [name]Caroline[/name] and call her [name]Cara[/name] for short. But I have to say I don’t really like [name]Cara[/name] with [name]Gabriel[/name]. [name]Gabriel[/name] is so strong and rich and in comparison, [name]Cara[/name] seems kind of, well, 1970’s or 1980’s. I think of [name]Laura[/name] [name]Ashley[/name] dresses which I don’t like. That’s funny because I named my daughter [name]Laura[/name] but I didn’t name her after [name]Laura[/name] [name]Ashley[/name]! [name]Caroline[/name] seems a bit frilly next to [name]Gabriel[/name], too.
Girls’ Names to go with [name]Gabriel[/name]:
[name]Aurora[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name] (means dawn, nice with [name]Gabriel[/name] the archangel.)
[name]Iris[/name] (I always pick this! means rainbow.)
[name]Celeste[/name] (I always pick this, too, but I like it with [name]Gabriel[/name] because [name]Gabriel[/name] is an angel and [name]Celeste[/name] means heavenly.)
[name]Nevaeh[/name] ([name]Heaven[/name] backwards!)
[name]Angelica[/name], [name]Angelina[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] (means star and is a strong name like [name]Gabriel[/name].)
Raffaella nn [name]Raffi[/name] (another angel name)
[name]Paloma[/name] (means dove, a strong name)
If you look up [name]Celeste[/name] and scroll down to User List [name]Sky[/name] Names, you can look up all my sky names.

Congrats on your baby girl, [name]Heather[/name]. [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] is a distinctive and handsome name; by contrast, your girl choices are rather staid! [name]Olivia[/name] is top 5, [name]Elisabeth[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are pretty, but not exactly stand-outs. [name]How[/name] about some of these:

[name]Genevieve[/name] ([name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Genevieve[/name], wow!)
[name]Astrid[/name] (my new crush as far as girl names go)

[name]Cora[/name] goes quite well with [name]Gabriel[/name], in my opinion. It’s a more up-to-date version of [name]Cara[/name], since it has that vintage, old-style feeling. (I may be biased since [name]Cora[/name] was my namesake, and if I weren’t named [name]Corine[/name], I would name my daughter [name]Cora[/name]!)

Here are a few to consider…
[name]Evangeline[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name]/[name]Eve[/name])
[name]Caitlin[/name] (nn [name]Cait[/name])
[name]Felicity[/name] (nn [name]Lissie[/name])
[name]Julia[/name] ([name]Gabriel[/name] and [name]Julia[/name]! love it!)
