We are having a hard time choosing a name for our girl who will have [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m] as her older brother. We named him after my grandfather ([name_m]George[/name_m]) and his father ([name_m]Bart[/name_m]), and tend to favor names that are classic, easy to spell and pronounce, but also underused.
So far we like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (but too many different spellings), and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] (but a little too common).
I also like [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (apparently I like children’s book character names too!)
I’d love to get additional suggestions of similar sounding names. Also, do people think [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is a strong sounding name, or too cutesie?
I agree with the confusion with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (which I would pronounce differently than [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], or [name_f]Madelon[/name_f] [my favorite spelling]). [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is not a favorite of mine, but I do see it becoming more and more popular. [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is a sweet nickname.
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f] is a bit cutsie for me. It is the nickname for [name_f]Adelheid[/name_f] a.k.a. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], which is a lovely name. A name that I believe would be appropriate for [name_m]George[/name_m], I would suggest [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]. One is [name_f]Roz[/name_f] and the other [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but both are lovely.
I think [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] are perfect together, personally. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] isn’t super common in babies in this area ([name_m]Ontario[/name_m], [name_f]Canada[/name_f]), so I’d definitely use it. Others :
