Sister for Henry and Mary Elisabeth

I posted earlier this week about [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and I just can’t pull the trigger for some reason, and since y’all are so good at this, I’d like to ask what you would do?

[name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] are out (cousin names). I really dislike a lot of nicknames (I love [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], hate [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] for example). [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] feels too popular, and I would like a full name (no [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]/[name_f]Milly[/name_f] or other “nickname as a given name” type names).

Any ideas that you like for a sister for [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] that don’t involve a top 20 name? I’m not overly worried about popularity but top 5 is a little much. If you’d pick [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], any middle names that strike you? We have a three syllable [name_m]German[/name_m] last name.

I’d love your thoughts!

What about

[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]

My first thought for you was [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. Other ideas:

[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]

My immediate thought was [name_f]Jane[/name_f], which I find so sweet and think is super underused. So my vote would go to [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I do like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and think [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would be adorable!

Some other ideas:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]

[name_u]Love[/name_u] some of the suggestions from pps. [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] really stand out to me for you.

I would pick a short, one syllable middle for [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [LongGermanName].

Suggestions:

[name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]

I’m not sure how you feel about nature names but how about [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]? [name_m]Henry[/name_m] , [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f].

I immediately thought of [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].

[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Christina[/name_f]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (although maybe you wouldn’t want a [name_f]Mary[/name_f] and a [name_f]Margaret[/name_f])
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgina[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]

Maybe you can’t formally choose Anneliese because it mimics your daughter’s name? Anneliese is a smoosh name, Anna + Liese, which is a form of Elisabeth.

[name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], & ______:

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]

[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Johannah[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] is the more intuitive spelling.

[name_f]Louise[/name_f]/[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]/[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]

Sorry if I repeat any suggestions.

My choices

[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]

[name_f]Nora[/name_f]/h
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

Good luck!

I like [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] with [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]. I would also suggest a short middle and I second [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. I also like [name_u]Clair[/name_u], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_u]Joan[/name_u], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] as middles.

Some other first name suggestions (sorry for any repeats)
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Lisette[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_f]Amanda[/name_f]
[name_f]Claudia[/name_f]
[name_f]Alicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Laure[/name_f]

Definitely second [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]! However, I am quite drawn to [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. Some middle name options could be [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f]/[name_u]Blaire[/name_u], [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], [name_f]Jade[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Joy[/name_f], and [name_f]Hope[/name_f].

[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]: This name is vintage, strong, and beautiful, much like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It also has international appeal and is recognizable but not overly popular. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is more popular, but still goes nicely.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]: The length, flow, and some of the sounds of [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], and it strikes me as a distinctive alternative to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]: I recommend this often, but it really is perfect. Uncommon, strong, stylish, and vintage, it has the sounds of [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]: Cool and spunky, with some of the sounds of [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f].
[name_f]Anais[/name_f]/[name_f]Annika[/name_f]: Very similar to [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f], just a bit shorter.
[name_f]Angelina[/name_f]: An elegant, feminine classic that is certainly recognizable but not overly common.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]/[name_f]Clarissa[/name_f]: Flowing, feminine, and gorgeous.
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]: Short and sweet, like [name_f]Mary[/name_f].
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]: Feminine, serious, and strong, like [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but with many of the sounds that make [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] so appealing.
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]: : [name_u]Bright[/name_u], vintage, and gentle, with many of the sounds you like.
I hope this was helpful. Best of luck with your choice!

What about [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]?

Thank you all so much! You’ve given us things to think about. I don’t love single syllable names with our last name because it sounds abrupt to me, but a lot of your suggestions would make wonderful middle names. I forgot about [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]- my first cousin just used it, and we are very close, to a point that it would probably be weird for everyone if we used it but I love that name. [name_f]Camille[/name_f]/[name_f]Camilla[/name_f] are up there too, just having trouble getting my husband on board. [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is another one that I really love the sound of with our last name.

I appreciate all of the help!!

I was going to say [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f] (maybe a nickname name but Germanic origins!), [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f]/ [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] or [name_f]Philippa[/name_f].

Good luck!

I second/ third [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
