We have two little girls, [name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] (3 and a half) and [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (just turned 1) and are expecting our third, and we’re really struggling to find a name that a) we really love and b) goes well with her sisters. So far we have:
So far, I like [name_u]Raven[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_u]Roux[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] because her initials would be “RJ” which is what her dad goes by. He really likes [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] and has since our first child. Still, we’re not quite sure if any of them feel right yet.
For middle names, our older girls’ middle names are family names, and we want to stick to that this time too. We’re thinking [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_m]Joe[/name_m], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Marie[/name_f], [name_u]Averill[/name_u], or [name_f]Kristin[/name_f]/[name_f]Kristina[/name_f]/[name_f]Kristine[/name_f]
We’d greatly appreciate any and all feedback and/or suggestions! Thank you
I love [name_u]Rue[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_u]Rue[/name_u] [name_f]Kristina[/name_f], Or [name_u]Rue[/name_u] [name_u]Averill[/name_u]. [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] is my least favorite of the names, it’s too trendy and I can’t see it growing with her. [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is a little better. [name_u]Raven[/name_u] is pretty cool. I’d also consider using [name_u]Averill[/name_u] as a first. Maybe [name_u]Averill[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_u]Averill[/name_u] [name_u]Everly[/name_u]/[name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] even.
I like [name_u]Rue[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and think she would work well as [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Bowie[/name_m]'s sister. [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] is not as cool, and is more common than the sisters names, [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is fine but seems too mainstream and popular now. [name_u]Raven[/name_u] is okay.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Revel[/name_f]? (Ruh-VELLE) It has a great meaning! Or [name_f]Reverie[/name_f]? Or Roxa ([name_f]Ro[/name_f]-sha)…the Portuguese word for purple! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] seelm like happy, celebratory sorts of names, with rainbow and bows coming to mind…so none of the ones you are mulling seem to fit that category, to me. Maybe [name_f]Clover[/name_f], [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] (means beautiful which is nice with rainbow meaning), [name_f]Lark[/name_f], [name_f]Capri[/name_f], [name_f]Dessa[/name_f], [name_u]Rafe[/name_u], [name_u]Ripley[/name_u], [name_u]Roan[/name_u], or [name_f]Nova[/name_f] might strike your fancy?
Of your choices I like [name_u]Raven[/name_u] the best. And I think [name_u]Everly[/name_u] would make a nice middle but I agree it ais a pretty time-period-specific first name…meaning I think it will sound dated at some point. What about [name_f]Jewel[/name_f] as a first name? I think it’s sweet and great with your other two. Good luck!
[name_u]Rue[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is so sweet and spunky! I think [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_m]Bowie[/name_m], and [name_u]Rue[/name_u] make such a perfect set of sisters.
I also really like [name_u]Raven[/name_u] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] with her big sisters names!
Of yours, [name_u]Roux[/name_u]/[name_u]Rue[/name_u] is a bit too harsh sounding in my accent so I can’t warm to it. I think [name_f]Willow[/name_f] is too much the inverse/mash up of [name_m]Bowie[/name_m]. [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] is pretty but I prefer [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and even the simple, stunning [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. I find [name_u]Raven[/name_u] just too much and not the lightest imagery, but I do get the appeal: it’s evocative and enjoyable to say.
I love [name_u]Rue[/name_u]! [name_u]Rue[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is very pretty. Your other daughters don’t have name that are exactly the same style [name_f]IMO[/name_f], which I think is actually really cool because adding a name like [name_u]Rue[/name_u] which is somewhere in between makes them tied together a little bit.
I really like the suggestions of Piper and Scout! I think they’d be great with Iris and Bowie. Also, Sailor/Saylor, Avalon, Eden, Story, Haven, Honor, Juno, Una, and Ruby! I think another short-ish quirky but familiar name works best.
Ruby Josephine
Scout Rosemarie/Josephine
Piper Kristine
Story Kristine/Josephine
Eden Rose
Avalon Marie
Honor Kristine
Juno Rose
Juno Josephine
Una Rosemarie
Those are my favorites. Ruby Josephine gets extra points because you can get Rue and RJ from it! I also love JJ from Juno Josephine.
I really like [name_u]Raven[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]! [name_u]Rue[/name_u] is also cute and unexpected. It reminds me of [name_u]Wren[/name_u].
To go with [name_m]Bowie[/name_m], I do think something else not super feminine up front is a good idea. It shouldn’t stop you if you love it, but paired with a name like [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f], I might assume she was her brother. If cohesion is important to you, I would probably stick to something in the three to six letter range.
Both [name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] remind me of [name_u]Waverly[/name_u], which has a similar vibe but far less common.
ETA: Thought of a few more.

[name_u]Rue[/name_u] is super cute and underused. I know girl twins called [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f], which I love. [name_f]Willow[/name_f] was on our list but it does seem quite dated now. I much prefer just [name_u]Ever[/name_u] instead of [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f].
I love the name [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] though I prefer to spell it [name_u]Everly[/name_u]. It’s just a personal preference though. I also like [name_u]Raven[/name_u] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] but I am not keen on the others.
I also like the suggestion of using [name_u]Averill[/name_u] as a first name.
Some names you may like… [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Roisin[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Sarai[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Reine[/name_f], [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Twila[/name_f], [name_f]Selene[/name_f], [name_f]Carys[/name_f], [name_u]Seren[/name_u], Tesni, [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f].
I usually shy away from [name_u]Rue[/name_u] (due to the meaning) but [name_u]Rue[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be really nice with her sisters’ names.
