We are expecting another girl and would love a name to go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (middle name [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but there are now 4 Islas in her upcoming kindergarten class, that we just double barreled her name. Last name starts with an M so…Islam. whoops)
I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].
Dad loves [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u].
Last name like [name_u]Murry[/name_u]/Murfy
I’m pretty hung up on [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], but would love your suggestions! In [name_f]Canada[/name_f] if that makes any difference. Thanks!
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] would be my choice for you too, it’s lovely and has a similar vibe to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] to me. I also really like [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] for something a bit more unexpected.
According to SSA, [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is currently #42, if popularity is already a bother to you with [name_f]Isla[/name_f], which is currently #82, then I wouldn’t go for it.
Other suggestions:
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f](#98)
[name_f]Nadia[/name_f](#393)
[name_f]Esme[/name_f](#556)
[name_f]Colette[/name_f](#533)
[name_f]Opal[/name_f](#820)
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f](not in the top 1000)
I also live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and I work with children! I only know one [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and one [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], no Ivys but about 6-7 Averys (it was a favourite of mine until I walked into a kindergarten hall at a school and there was one in every class).
I think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] would be lovely! Here are some other names I don’t hear too often that would work nicely with [name_f]Isla[/name_f];
I also adore [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
I wonder if you like [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]? It might not be your style, but it’s sort of a mix of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u].
We talked about [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] but it’s a bit like [name_u]Harley[/name_u] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], no? What do you think?
I’m a teacher and I have taught a [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] every year (all boys too!) and a bunch of Averys. [name_f]Isla[/name_f]’s good friend is [name_u]Avery[/name_u] so it’s off the table for me. I also never taught an [name_f]Isla[/name_f], and in a school of 460 we have one. Until the horde starts next year with my [name_f]Isla[/name_f]!
[name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is pretty. Here are my thoughts on your picks-
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]-This is a lovely name. It goes really well w/[name_f]Isla[/name_f] & your ln too. I’d be a teeny bit concerned that it’s getting close to as popular as [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. At least in the U.S. it was actually forty spots higher than [name_f]Isla[/name_f] on the social security popularity charts last year.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-This is about as popular as [name_f]Isla[/name_f] too (again, in the U.S.). It’s a cute name, but maybe a tad close to [name_f]Isla[/name_f] anyway.
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]-[name_m]Way[/name_m] way popular. And it’s kind of boyish too in my opinion, even though it’s super trendy for girls.
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]-I would really assume [name_f]Isla[/name_f] & [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] were brother & sister. [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] is a nice Irish boy name. It’s used for girls way more…but maybe I’m just not a fan of unisex names. Especially since big sister has such a beautiful feminine name.
Here are a few suggestions that maybe are a little less popular & that you might like:
I love [name_f]Isla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! Beautiful name. I love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] too, but it’s a bit too similar for me. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] personally, but it does go really well with [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] are both too boyish for me too work as a sister for [name_f]Isla[/name_f], but either could easily go in the middle slot. I like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
Other suggestions for you:
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_u]Skye[/name_u]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]- maybe a compromise for your husband, sounds a bit more girly to my ears anyway
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Clare[/name_u], but I love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] for you. Other favorites:
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
I live in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and have 3 kids under 6 years so I hear a lot of little kids names at their school, playgroup etc. I can say that I have met like a zillion little girls named [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] and with a last name that starts with M I find [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] M. kind of awkward to say so I would steer clear of that one as a first name! I would go with something else equally as feminine as [name_f]Isla[/name_f]:
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Keira[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
Actually one that comes to mind for you is [name_u]Ivory[/name_u]! Kind of a mix between [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u]!
