[name]Hi[/name], I’m new here and I am in need of help. My husband and I are expecting our second daughter and are in serious need of ideas. With our daughter, it was easy. In DH’s family, there is a tradition where the oldest daughter in a family is named a variant of [name]Joan[/name]. With our son, I used the name I’ve loved since I was 14.
The girl name I’ve loved for that long is [name]Emily[/name], but I’m thinking that its just way too popular.
DH’s only request is that the name be something not unisex. Our last name starts with P.
We were thinking something vintagey (sp?) like [name]Vivian[/name] that sounds good with our other two kiddoes names.
We have found a couple of possibilities that we’d like opinions on as well.
[name]Vivienne[/name]/[name]Vivianne[/name]/[name]Vivian[/name] -not sure what spelling we like better
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Elisabeth[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name]
[name]Adelaide[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Marguerite[/name]
Great taste–I love the names [name]Johanna[/name] & [name]Benjamin[/name]!! I also love the name [name]Emmeline[/name] from your list & think it is a nice substitute for the darling but very popular ‘[name]Emily[/name]’. However, I do like it spelled ‘[name]Emaline[/name]’ best. I first heard this name several years ago in a song–titled ‘[name]Emaline[/name]’–by [name]Ben[/name] Folds and thought it was quite beautiful! I think it goes really well with [name]Johanna[/name] & [name]Benjamin[/name] as well.

[name]Emeline[/name] is a variation we found in our genealogy research and liked it. It’s sort of a middle ground between [name]Emmeline[/name] and [name]Emaline[/name].
