Sister for Jude

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all

I am due in [name_u]August[/name_u] with my second and have just found out it’s a girl so time to get naming! I have no idea what my husband likes yet in terms of girl names, but we are both very happy with our choice for our little boy [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. Uncommon but not weird or stupidly spelled, cool but not popular and easy for him to learn to write. It would be nice to land on something with a similar vibe for our wee girl.

My list thus far:

N.B our surname begins with an A, so most names beginning or ending in ‘a’ don’t sound quite right.

Thanks for any suggestions.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. Plan on using it for a middle name. Your list is lovely. I saw [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] automatically as a Beatles song connection.

From your list I love:

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] ([name_u]LOVE[/name_u])

I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f] with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is gorgeous. However maybe the A ending problematic and a bit trendy.

Can’t wait to see the other suggestions! Congrats

I like [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] from your list.

What about:

[name_u]Jude[/name_u] is one of my top names, as are some of the ones on your list for your daughter. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] I love especially and they both go beautifully with [name_u]Jude[/name_u]! I also adore [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Any of these would be perfect in my opinion. Other ideas:

[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] (I know you said no A names but I think this is so nice with [name_u]Jude[/name_u])

Good luck!

Ooooo I like [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] tdfm!

I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u] with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] or [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].

Although it’s not my favourite on your list, [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] seems like it would go perfect with [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] sound like such a pretty sibset. I’d also consider [name_f]Iris[/name_f] with [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. However, as individual names, [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are my favourites.

My first thought when I saw this post was [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. My favorite of your options are [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. Other ideas:

For you, I really like [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]!!

I’d also suggest

Some lovely suggestions already !!

Other ideas

[name_u]Jude[/name_u] & _______:

[name_u]Aspen[/name_u] “[name_u]Penny[/name_u]”
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f] “[name_u]Romy[/name_u]”

Please consider repeats as seconds

I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u], I can’t use it because my Fiancé doesn’t like it, but if I were to use it I would pair it with these names: (Sorry for any repeats)

[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] (Sephy)

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u]!

Here are my thoughts on your list:

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]-This seems pretty perfect. It’s not my personal favorite, but it’s nice. It just reminds me of ‘I.V.’ sometimes.

[name_f]Iris[/name_f]-This also seems perfect for your criteria. It’s again, not my personal favorite, but I want to like it. It has lovely imagery.

[name_f]Lola[/name_f]-I think that this is kind of cute & spunky. It seems better as a nn in my opinion. I like [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] or [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f].

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]-I love it! It’s on the top of my list too, even though the popularity bothers me. It’s the perfect combination of sophisticated, feminine & kind. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] & [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] personally make me see a Beatles vibe, which is fine with me! I was named after a Beatles song. But it’s something to consider.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]-This is adorable & I love it w/[name_u]Jude[/name_u] too. It’s simple yet not terribly over done. Sweet & girly, yet grows up well.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]-I don’t mind this, but it’s a bit nick-namey for my taste. I prefer [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_f]Poppy[/name_f].

[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]-I’m not a huge fan of this name. It’s perfectly fine, but just seems a bit fussy.

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]-Hm. Same as above.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

Thanks so much for your suggestions, I added a few to my list but have finally managed to draw my husband in and he has thrown a right spanner in the works! [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] were my faves too, but he hates them both :(. Our tastes are very different so it’s going to be a mission.

We have come out with two that we both “don’t hate”, sadly neither are on my original list - [name_f]Keira[/name_f] (that a ending though) and [name_f]Niamh[/name_f]. We do both like [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but it is outrageously common here.

Update - I managed to get [name_f]Iris[/name_f] back on the list, yay! I made him look at it again, say it with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and our surname and he looked up the meaning and that combo changed his mind

That’s great! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is one of my favourite names, as is [name_u]Jude[/name_u], and I think they suit each other perfectly. Plus, the meaning really is great.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] with [name_u]Jude[/name_u]!
