Sister for Lucy

Hi Berries! Looking for some more girl suggestions for sister, [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].

My husband wants something like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] which I like but is very popular where I live. I also don’t like the nickname idea [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] for a sister [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].

[name_f]Honor[/name_f] names:
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_m]Wilde[/name_m], [name_m]Scott[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m],

Notes:
Can’t use [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or variation as a first, Scottie/ [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] having the same end sound may bother me, don’t mind a long first name if it has a short fun nickname, love an older name with a twist, husband said no to [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] ugh, concerned that [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] sounds too close to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] which is so popular where we live

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Mae/ [name_f]May[/name_f] - (NN: Liza?)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - too popular?, (NN: Nora?)
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m]

[name_f]Scottie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - don’t think it fits as well

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m] - same end sound as [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

Anything to add to our list? Thinking [name_m]Max[/name_m] or [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for a boy, Thanks!

I don’t like to repeat endings either. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is a very pretty combo and I think all your current ideas are lovely as sisters :sparkles:

Personally, of your current ideas, I like [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] as a sister for [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] best. Both names feel very bright and lively to me, but the first syllables are different enough to not feel too matchy despite the same ending sound. My second favourite is [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f] - I like how they both have a meaning connected to light, and using the [name_f]Nora[/name_f] nickname will take away the similar -ee sound that [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] would bring. [name_m]You[/name_m] could also consider [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elle[/name_f] (not [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]) which has the same sleek look of Lucy’s 4 letters without overlapping sounds (other than the L).

[name_m]Other[/name_m] ideas:

  • [name_f]Alice[/name_f] - maybe too popular?
  • [name_f]Clara[/name_f] - also sounds bright and is connected to light
  • [name_f]Flora[/name_f] / [name_f]Florence[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] ‘Pippa’ / [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] / [name_f]Piper[/name_f]
  • [name_m]Scout[/name_m] - maybe a bit outside your style but sounds similar to [name_m]Scott[/name_m]?
  • [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] / [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] - too popular and has the -ee ending sound

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] these help a little?

I actually think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] & [name_f]Nora[/name_f] are such a sweet pair! I don’t think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] sounds too much like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] to me but if that a concern then maybe I’d focus on other options. I agree with @Gingilocks101 that [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would work really well with the nicknames [name_f]Nora[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f].

I don’t know where your located so some of these might be a bit too popular:
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Enid[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Harriet[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], [name_f]Vivian[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Winona[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]! I also think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] “Nell” would be a sweet option!

I like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] & it fits well with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f].

Has to be [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] for me! [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] are darling together.

Thanks for all this feedback!

Wow these NN for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] I have not considered

[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Elle[/name_f]

And a good reminder that [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a great NN for it as well.

  1. If we went the [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] route, what middle?

  2. Also, I love the look and style of [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] but am not sure about the ah sound right into another ah sound. I get slightly diff sounds but what do you think saying it? And I like to think I verbally use the middles but who knows lol.

Of your options, I really enjoy:

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] → strong but sweet, similar in feel to [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m] → this is balanced and cool; bold and elegant

[name_f]Scottie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] → I actually kind of like it with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] – eclectic but cool

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m] → maybe it’s because my cousins have -y -y names I don’t mind the rhyme, but it is a lovely name – sweet and sassy.

Some more ideas…

[name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] // [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]

[name_f]Zara[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (Hattie, [name_f]Etta[/name_f])

[name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (Jett, [name_f]Etta[/name_f])

[name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m]

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m]

[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]

[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (Ada, [name_f]Laila[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f])

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is mature and elegant and perfect with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - very ‘English rose’ while [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is very ‘English rosebud’. Popularity honestly doesn’t concern me here, it’s classic and not exactly ubiquitous.

If you don’t like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], nicknames could be (like others have said) [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f].

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is not too close to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], IMO, and they have totally different vibes. I won’t worry about it. All your MN options for it work and it’s a very nice name.

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] is good and so are the MNs with it.

[name_f]Scottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] don’t really seem in keeping with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], IMO.

[name_m]The[/name_m] previous posters also suggested some lovely names - I second [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f].

Maybe you would like [name_f]Frances[/name_f] or [name_f]Virginia[/name_f]? [name_f]Anne[/name_f]? [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]?

Overall, I’d vote for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - maybe something like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f]?

Oh, and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] as well. Or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f].

[name_f]Marianne[/name_f] is also a good one… [name_f]Constance[/name_f] maybe. Sorry for posting multiple times on your thread.

All good! [name_m]Like[/name_m] your suggestions and the reminder of [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a NN

I like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] together!

[name_m]Other[/name_m] suggestions:
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] (honor for John?)
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]

I love the name [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], especially with [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]! [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is beautiful <3 Honestly, I don’t think that it having a similar sound to [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] is a big concern, especially since both names have very different vibes to me, but if it matters to you, there are plenty of other names to explore!

I also love [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]! I think the flow is nice.

I don’t think [name_f]Scottie[/name_f] or [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] really match with Lucy/Eleanor, which I would say are more classic, whereas [name_f]Scottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] are a bit more “fun” or spunky.

If you go the [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] route, I like [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Stella[/name_f] (as an alternative way to honor Estelle?) or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (to honor Elizabeth?).

Some other first name suggestions (and sorry for any repeats)

[name_f]Elise[/name_f] - could be a way to honor [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - same ending sound as [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], but I can’t help but feel they would go so well together!
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Margot[/name_f]
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] - same as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - could nickname to [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Tillie[/name_f], [name_f]Mattie[/name_f] (which kind of reminds me of Scottie!)
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] - love the spunkiness of these two together, and could maybe be an honor name for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]?
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - lots of cute nickname options (Charlie, [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], etc.)
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] - kind of similar to [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]?
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f] - [name_f]Frankie[/name_f] is the cutest nickname
[name_f]Simone[/name_f]
[name_f]Ramona[/name_f]

Hopefully this helps!

I adore the idea of [name_m]Wilde[/name_m] as a middle name!

I love so many of these!

My favorites of the options are [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Wilde[/name_m], [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (in that order).

I personally could not care less about sibling names ending in the same sound. I just don’t particularly care for [name_f]Scottie[/name_f] or [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] the best.

you could go for a diminutive of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] such as [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f] (Lily/Betty) or [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] (Izzy/Belle)? [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] too- [name_f]Nora[/name_f] works too! you mentioned liking [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f], how about [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] instead? not too sure on nicknames though.
some more ideas:
Beatrice(Bea)
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruby[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
Alexandra(Alex/Lexie)
