Looking for thoughts and suggestions for a name for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]'s ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f]) little sister. I am having a hard time finding something I love as much as [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Some names that we like are:
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (my favorite atm, but popular?)
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] (love this but I have been told it is the equivalent of [name_f]Debbie[/name_f] or [name_f]Karen[/name_f] in [name_m]Quebec[/name_m] and
[name_f]France[/name_f]. Hubby isn’t so sure)
[name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (both start with M)
Emmeline (pronounced Emma-leen)
I love your list! I also love [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], and I think it’s similar to [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] in being familiar but not overused. From your list I also love how [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] sound with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]!
How about.
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tabitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] ( I like this but I prefer with the A ending as can be shortened to [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f])
[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_u]Romilly[/name_u]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]
I love the suggestion of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] sound so together.
I love [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]! It was a contender for my daughter’s name and now that I’m pregnant with a boy and don’t intend to have anymore I’m a little sad to know I’ll never get to use it. Anyway, with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] I love [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] (I’ve always loved this name although its popularity does bother me) and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], as well as [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] (although how it’s perceived in [name_f]France[/name_f] etc isn’t ideal). [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is also really lovely. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is fine but it doesn’t feel as special as [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], nor does [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. Plus, I personally don’t like repeated initials.
I like [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]!
I’ll also second the suggestion of [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]!!
Personally, I love [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. They all match in regards to length, and all can be shortened to a nn just as cute and simple as [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], without sounding too close in sound.
Some other names that I think match [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] really well are…
Magnolia (definitely out there, but [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] would be such a cute nn, and I love how the fn sounds w [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u])
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Elliott[/name_u] (I’ve always loved this for a girl)
Isabel-It is really popular. Especially if you factor in all of the Isabellas. It’s a great name though. Especially the nns [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] & Ibbi.
Sylvie-That’s really funny that it’s a dated name in your area. It sounds fairly unique & fresh where I live. It’s super cute. I personally prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. Especially w/Matilda nn [name_f]Tilly[/name_f].
Annabel-That’s nice. I like this spelling, because it looks more mature. The only reason to do [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] is if you prefer [name_f]Belle[/name_f] as a nn. But [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is nice & great w/Matilda.
Adeline-I love it, but ‘[name_m]Ad[/name_m]’ names are so over done. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though this is by far the best one!
Madeleine-I think it’s a bit close to [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. Wouldn’t let it be a deal breaker if it’s your absolute favorite though. I just don’t like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]. But I love the nn [name_f]Maisy[/name_f].
Emmeline-[name_f]Emma[/name_f]-line seems to make more sense to me, but maybe [name_f]Emma[/name_f]-leen is more common in your area. Either way, it’s nice, but ‘[name_f]Em[/name_f]’ names are a bit over done. I don’t personally care for [name_f]Emmy[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] the best from your list ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] <3).
Other ideas:
Matilda and [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Milly[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Carline[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Carly[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and Isanna ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_u]Izzy[/name_u])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Janine[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Janie[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Patricia[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Patty[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Lindy[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] ([name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Vicky[/name_f])
I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Stella[/name_f] was on our list too. Unfortunatel, they have all been taken by friends.
Thank you everyone for all the input and wonderful suggestions. I will run them past hubby. I am glad that so many of you think [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and maybe [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]/Sylvie, would work well with [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].
