[name_m]Hi[/name_m] ladies! I am due with a baby girl in [name_u]July[/name_u] and I’m having troubles with names. I love traditional/antique charm names that are familiar, yet not too common. [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Girl’s siblings are named [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] ([name_u]Max[/name_u]), [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and [name_m]Leo[/name_m]. My current frontrunners are:
Names I also like, but don’t quite work for us are: [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Winnie[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], and [name_f]Isla[/name_f].
For your sibling set my favourite is [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] has really grown on me of recent it’s really spunky and charming. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] sounds lovely with [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Leo[/name_m] & [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is a lovely combination as well.
Suggestions:
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Delta[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
: )
[name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] & [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are darling!
Here are my thoughts on your list:
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]-This seems completely perfect. I kind of like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] more if that’s an option.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] ([name_f]Rosie[/name_f]) [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]-Also beautiful. You can’t go wrong w/[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f].
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]-I like this combo, but I don’t like [name_u]Willie[/name_u] at all. Is it avoidable? Probably. It’s just something to think about.
I love all of your options! Max, Hazel, Leo make such a lovely sibset and with them, I think Ruby, Rose or Willa would work beautifully. My absolute favourites are Olive, Violet and Ivy but Ruby, Willa and Rose follow closely after these for me. I honestly don’t know which of the three sounds best with your kids’ names as they all work but for some reason I’m leaving toward Rose or Ruby. If popularity is at all a concern for you though Willa, at least where I’m from, is definitely the most uncommon. Some other ideas:
Matilda
Luella
Amelie
Phoebe
Etta
Pearl
Freya
Thea
June
Clementine
Isobel
Adeline
Bronte
Clara
Eleanor
Della
Iris
Mirabel
Adele
Ophelia
Lyra
Stella
Frida
Zelda
Emmeline
Nell
Adelaide
Evelyn
Frankie
Audrey
Edie
Flora
My first thought for you was [name_f]Clara[/name_f], which seems perfect with the sibset. Of your options, I love [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] your kids names!! [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are sweet options.
The first names that came to mind were [name_f]Greta[/name_f] & [name_f]Polly[/name_f]/[name_f]Pollyanna[/name_f].
I also second the suggestions of [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
Thank you ladies so much! You all gave wonderful suggestions that I hadn’t yet considered. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me!!
Of the suggestions, I have to say that I have always loved the name [name_f]Greta[/name_f], but I worry that [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f] sounds a bit too much like the fairytale [name_m]Hansel[/name_m] and [name_f]Gretel[/name_f]…or am I the only one that thinks of that association? I also really liked the suggestions for [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f].
I feel like my heart is set on [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], but I have a few mental hurdles. A cousin of mine (whom I haven’t seen in ages, but is still a “friend” on Facebook) named his daughter [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and that gives me pause. I also worry that it’s on the cusp of becoming one of those crazy popular names here in the US. Maybe I’m overthinking it though.
Thanks again for your input! It is very much appreciated!!
I’ve got a [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and a [name_f]Violet[/name_f], so we have the same taste! Some other girl names I love are:
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] …I think they may have all been mentioned!
Jillianelizabeth, we definitely have the same taste! I love the name [name_f]Violet[/name_f]!! (We can’t use it because we have a dog named [name_f]Violet[/name_f]…argh!!)
I do get a little bit of [name_m]Hansel[/name_m] and [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] from [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. My favorite from your list is [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] from pps. I’ll suggest:
Tess Amelia
Tabitha Jane
Harriet Willa nn Hattie
Elise Ruby nn Elsie
I think they all work but [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is my favorite! [name_u]Max[/name_u], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is a great sibset.
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] immediately stood out to me. I like that it has an L, like the sibling names, without it sounding like any of them, and still has that same bouncy antique feeling. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] fit as well, and are great names, but I think [name_f]Willa[/name_f] is perfect.
