My daughters name is [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. We loved [name_u]Piper[/name_u] for the spunky, fun & yet wearable vibe it gave. [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is honoring my maternal grandmother, [name_u]Joyce[/name_u]. We love [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] & hope to keep the same “theme” going.
My hubby started talking girl names yesterday & suggested the name [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. I checked my long list & yup, it was already on there! WOW, a name we BOTH like!
For the middle name, I’m thinking possibly [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. My middle name is [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] & we have lots of [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f]'s & Kathleens in my family, but no [name_f]Kate[/name_f]'s.
So, [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]? Is it wearable? It certainly fits my criteria.
Other names on my long list:
[name_f]Jovie[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] (lulu)
[name_u]Sloane[/name_u]
[name_u]Simone[/name_u]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]
[name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_f]Minnie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tillie[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] ([name_f]Vivi[/name_f])
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_u]Teegan[/name_u]
I really think [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a winner! [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] are perfect for sisters - they compliment each other very well without being overly “matchy”/ [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is a family middle name and [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] is one you both already like. I definitely think [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is wearable. I think [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] from your list work really well. I love [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], but [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is super “Charmed” to me, but if that association doesn’t bother you, then i love [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] and [name_u]Piper[/name_u] together as well.
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is stunning! [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] works. I love [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] (and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]) from your list… maybe [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] could be a nickname? All three names are super spunky. [name_u]Delaney[/name_u] seems like it could lend more of a professional side. More options for down the line. But, I agree that if you are loving [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], it works great with [name_u]Piper[/name_u].
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is probably my second favorite option, but she would probably stay [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] & not nicknamed [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. Same goes for [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] could work in the professional world, especially amongst the [name_f]Tillie[/name_f]'s, [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]'s & [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]'s of her generation. There is just something about [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] I love. I think my fear is that she will stick out TOO much.
[name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is very cute. But my favorites from your list are [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. I think they both carry the same modern energy that [name_u]Piper[/name_u] has.
[name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is absolutely adorable, spunky and incredibly sweet. I like you style! Though I think [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] would fit your theme quite well, I’m not sure if I love them together. I think it might be the harshness of Dau-TEE with the sharpness of [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. Not that it’s not doable, it totally is, but that’s just my personal opinion.
I think I would much prefer [name_f]Jovie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_u]Simone[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], or [name_f]Tillie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. With [name_f]Lola[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] being my favorite and [name_f]Jovie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] in close second.
I really like [name_u]Piper[/name_u] and [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] together! when I see [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] or [name_f]Dot[/name_f], I think nickname to [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] because they called my grandmother “[name_f]Dot[/name_f]” and she was a [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f].
[name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is very cute. Sounds like you love it, which is most important! My guess would be that professionally or as she got older she might go by [name_f]Dot[/name_f]. Which I like even more. Are you fine with [name_f]Dot[/name_f]?
I love the name [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]! I really like [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but it does make me hesitate. I adore the name [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], so if that’s your second choice, that’s the name I would lean towards. I just am not sure if [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is too nickname-y. I wonder if [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] (or some longer version of [name_f]Kate[/name_f]), might give the name a bit more purpose / adult feel? I can see [name_u]Piper[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] working for an adult, but [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] does make me hesitate. That said, you’re right, there are lots of [name_f]Hattie[/name_f]'s, [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]'s etc. so I’m sure in 20 years, [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] will be just as adult as the rest. I just worry that [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] might lack a bit of substance.
I would try using the name around! Go to starbucks and when they ask your name, say [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] yourself calling it out on a playground, or imagine her going on a blind date and introducing herself as [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] her name being called at graduation as class valedictorian, or in a doctor’s office. If any of these make you hesitate, then I might reconsider [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]. I can see [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] doing all of these, but [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], I feel like there should be something longer - You wouldn’t like [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]/[name_f]Dorothea[/name_f] would you?
When I saw [name_u]Piper[/name_u]'s name, I immediately thought a sister name might be [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] & [name_f]Olive[/name_f] just sounds perfect to me.
Other ideas:
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Hope[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] or just [name_f]Bea[/name_f]?
I did notice [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] is one of your names, and I really like [name_f]Goldie[/name_f]. It feels a bit unwearable, so maybe would be better as a MN or pet name? But my great-great grandmother’s name was [name_f]Golde[/name_f] (pronounced [name_m]Gold[/name_m]-ah I believe) so it definitely is usable!
