Sister for Ransom, Tobias and Deliverance (Round 2)

12 weeks tomorrow (and don’t know the gender), so we still have lots of time, but if we had to name a daughter tomorrow, these are the combos we’d probably be choosing from.

Eve is an honor name for my mom, and I love it apart from that as well.
Zipporah is my favorite this time around, but it looks like we won’t use it as a first. My husband isn’t a huge fan. I guess another con is that if we did use Zipporah, that would scratch Zebedee off the boy name list
Rosemary is my husband’s favorite. I like the Hamlet reference “There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance…” as a subtle nod that this is a rainbow baby. I know at least 3 Rosemarys, though. One goes by Rosy.
Ruby is our 5-year-old’s suggestion, and I actually really like it  I haven’t been able to think of a great way to incorporate both Ruby and Eve, but Ruby Zipporah is pretty awesome. Ruby is quite a bit higher on the charts than I like, but I only personally know two, an elderly lady and a little girl. And if we went with Eve, well, it’s surprisingly low on the charts, but there are so many Evies (Evelyn, Evie, Evangeline, Ever etc.) that it’s probably very comparable to Ruby on the playground.

What do you like best? Any suggestions or mix and matches?

  • Eve Zipporah
  • Rosemary Eve
  • Ruby Zipporah

I have to say [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] are beautiful but they are all pretty special

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] the scan goes smoothly :white_heart:

Congratulations on the new little one!
Maybe:

[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] / [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] / [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] “Rosy Eve”

[name_f]Evelina[/name_f] is much lower in the charts (in fact, it hasn’t ranked since 1908!) and you could call her “Eve” for short instead of “Evie” if you wanted as a clearer shoutout to your mom/ a little less confusion with the “Evies” or even “Lina” for short!

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is also great!

A few other suggestions that maybe aren’t quite so popular atm if you’re worried about that:

[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]
[name_f]Elora[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] / [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Elora[/name_f]

If you wanted to go the double middles route, I think [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] work well because one is long and one is short.

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (this is probably my fav combo if you were to do both)
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_u]Rue[/name_u] (short for Ruby)

Hopefully these help!

Thank you! LOVE [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f], but my husband is not at all keen on two middles.

[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is lovely. So is [name_f]Elora[/name_f], but we already have [name_f]Elanor[/name_f] as our daughter’s middle, my brother has a daughter [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], and we know a baby [name_f]Eliora[/name_f] “Ellie”

such lovely options :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: i would have voted for them all if i could have! i also think eve rosemary would be lovely, if your husband doesn’t mind rosemary in the middle spot!

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is bright and interesting - I like it

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is also warm and charming - maybe finding a nickname you like might make it feel more ‘yours’? (Romy, [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Ro[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u] - or [name_u]Remi[/name_u] - like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] → remembrance → Remi?)

I like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] too - such a sweet and cheerful name.

Overall, I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is my fave, but I don’t think you can go wrong.

A few that came to mind, just in case:

[name_f]Vita[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (Vita, meaning life, like Eve)
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] (life/soul meaning - and shares the beginning of Eve)
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] (a bit of [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f], a bit of Ruby)

@daisymeadows thank you! [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is a good idea as well.

@Greyblue many thanks! I think [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] would be sure to get [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] some of the time (and I do like [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] both for its spunk and for the LOTR tie to Elanor), but [name_u]Remi[/name_u] is clever and I really like [name_u]Rory[/name_u]! I never thought of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but it totally works, and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] has been on our list (albeit for a boy.)
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] is such a good suggestion. I was thinking about it the other day. [name_u]An[/name_u] acquaintance used it a year or two ago (for a little sister to [name_f]Polly[/name_f], no less!–Polly short for Polygai@.) I don’t think I could use it myself because of the Bible story–[name_m]Ananias[/name_m] and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] were struck dead for lying–and no matter what you think of the story, the association seems unfortunate and would be strong in my circle. But such a gorgeous name.

Both [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] are both fabulous, but I especially love [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]! She’s so sweet and definitely memorable. I like that [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] has feels from [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], too. I would love to meet a little [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f]!

ETA: Also like the suggestion of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] feels more you, but [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is very sweet. I’m also rather fond of [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] if you’re ever up for two middles - some how even though [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] is nice, I don’t like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Zipporah[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f] quite so much.
