Due any day now with our second babygirl. Our first is [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. She’s 14 months, so they will be very close. The only name that I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] is [name_u]Salem[/name_u], but is unfortunately too close to [name_u]Saylor[/name_u] in pronunciation . My husband likes [name_u]Landry[/name_u], but I just can’t get over how much it looks like Laundry… so I’m trying to keep with the water-ish theme, what names can you think of that have the word “sand” in them? We’ve already thought about and threw out [name_u]Navy[/name_u] and [name_f]Marina[/name_f].
Middles we like are [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]. Open to change these.
Also, I’m not a big fan of the “new name” craze ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be my choice if it was up to me), BUT what do you think of Sandry?
[name_m]Just[/name_m] a thought I had this morning. My brain is mush from scouring baby name sites and I honestly can’t tell if it’s good or bad at this point lol
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Sunniva[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_u]Saylor[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_u]Paisley[/name_u]
Sandry sounds like “sundry” to me… not my favorite, especially next to the cute and spunky [name_u]Saylor[/name_u].
Have you considered [name_f]Isla[/name_f]? More popular than [name_u]Saylor[/name_u], but the sounds complement each other, and it keeps the nautical theme. [name_f]Coral[/name_f] is another one.
If you love [name_u]Salem[/name_u], maybe [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]? It’s a coastal town, so it’s got the sea connection without being too on-the-nose, and style-wise I think it works with [name_u]Saylor[/name_u].
Sandry is nms exactly but I don’t hate it. Would prefer [name_m]Sanders[/name_m] I think, though it is boyish. The only other name I can think of with the actual word “sand” in it besides [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]/[name_f]Sandra[/name_f] is [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] which is definitely boyish, but I do know a [name_f]Leandra[/name_f].
I have been tracking watery names too. These are some favorites:
Not sure I like Sandry, but just [name_u]Sandy[/name_u] is fine.
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Sandrine[/name_f] (san-dreen)
[name_f]Sandya[/name_f]
[name_f]Sandra[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] maybe
Like the suggestions of [name_f]Marin[/name_f], [name_u]Waverly[/name_u], [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] and [name_u]Bay[/name_u]
[name_u]Marley[/name_u]
[name_u]Kai[/name_u]
[name_m]Cove[/name_m]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_u]Harbor[/name_u]
[name_f]Cascade[/name_f]
[name_f]Misty[/name_f]
[name_u]Rain[/name_u]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_f]Zarya[/name_f]
[name_f]Venice[/name_f]
Satet
Brizo
[name_f]Delphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Tara[/name_f]
Ceto
Rhodes
I actually like Sandry! I like [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] too, and it’s probably the spunkiest “sand” name I can think of (since all the others are just long forms of [name_f]Sandra[/name_f] like [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f]) but I agree that it’s probably not the best match for [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]. I think Sandry is a cool modernization of it!
You don’t necessarily have to stick with the water theme either. There are plenty of word, nature, place, and occupation names that would sound great with [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]. If you aren’t finding anything you like, expand your search!
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] is actually how we came up with the name [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]. We combined sawyer, a name I love, and [name_u]Taylor[/name_u], the name I wanted but is already used in the family.
I really like [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] with [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]. Out of your [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] combos I prefer [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
Of those options I like [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] the best. I really like [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_f]June[/name_f] too.
[name_u]Shelby[/name_u] ? The “[name_u]Shel[/name_u]” makes it kind of beachy/watery
[name_u]Shelley[/name_u]
[name_u]Skylar[/name_u]
[name_u]Sydney[/name_u]
[name_f]Summer[/name_f]
[name_f]Sable[/name_f]
I agree with previous posters who mentioned both [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] ([name_f]Margot[/name_f] wouldn’t be a bad choice either.) Oh and [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]! And while it wouldn’t really go with your theme per se, I also liked the suggestion of [name_u]Paisley[/name_u].
Some others:
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Marine[/name_f] (I noticed yoy already considered [name_f]Marina[/name_f])
[name_f]Delta[/name_f]
[name_f]Oceana[/name_f]
[name_f]Ula[/name_f]
[name_f]Nixie[/name_f]
[name_f]Darya[/name_f]
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_f]Journey[/name_f]
[name_u]Dylan[/name_u]
[name_f]Misty[/name_f]
I think [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] fits perfectly with [name_u]Saylor[/name_u]. [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] is beautiful. Some other combos I came up with:
