Sister for Scarlett and Jude

I always struggled with names until the last minute! But I’m looking for a girl name to match our first two. I like classic, clean names and try to stay out of the overused ones in top 10. Both middle names honor relatives. Last name starts with [name_m]Mac[/name_m]-

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]

Any suggestions that would make a nice sounding sibling match?

Right now, I have some favorites but not set on anything yet.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (especially like the M with [name_m]Mac[/name_m] last name) looking for a longer middle name
[name_f]Liv[/name_f] (always loved this, but not sure if it’s too short for me to actually use)
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]

Open to suggestions! Due in early [name_u]March[/name_u].

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Your kids’ names are beautiful.

Here are my thoughts on your list:

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]-This is lovely. It works well w/[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] & [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. It’s sleek & feminine. Simple yet not over done.

[name_f]Liv[/name_f]-I like it, but it is very nick-namey. I think that [name_f]Olive[/name_f] nn [name_f]Liv[/name_f] would be very nice here.

[name_f]Claire[/name_f]-This is a good solid name. It doesn’t sparkle, but it’s fine.

[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]-Same as above. Very popular if that bothers you.

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]-This is nice. Sort of bold yet feminine like [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]-Very pretty & fits in well. Getting quite common though.

A few more suggestions:

[name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Amara[/name_f]
[name_f]Audra[/name_f]

It’s too bad Leona is a middle name because she would be the perfect addition to your sibset

With that being said I love Hazel, Aurora & Maeve

Maeve Arabella
Maeve Aurora
Maeve Emmeline
Maeve Tallulah
Maeve Isadora
Maeve Bethany
Maeve Jocelyn

First thing that to mind for you was Vida (means Life) nickname could be Liv

Your kids’ names are great! I really love the name [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and don’t see why you couldn’t use it; I know a little [name_f]Liv[/name_f] actually so for me it’s easy to envision on a child. I also love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] are nice, too, just not favourite of mine (although [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is gorgeous and would go really well with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]!).

Some others that I think would be perfect are [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Bronte[/name_f], [name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f], [name_f]Luella[/name_f], [name_f]Frida[/name_f], [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].

Thanks for all the suggestions!

There are quite a few that were on my longer lists I’ve considered. And I do agree with the feedback on the names I was thinking. Some are just fine, but don’t sparkle.

My 5 year old was set on naming [name_u]Jude[/name_u] her choice - [name_m]Pluto[/name_m], the entire pregnancy. She still sometimes calls him it to be funny. This baby girl, she’s determined to be [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. Which I keep getting further away from every time she says it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not a fit. And concerned that it is getting more common. Also I would be using two color names for my girls, which wasn’t exactly my intention.

I’ve considered

[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - but just heard 2 babies in my friend circle with it

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] - have a cousin with a baby nn [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f] - this one is interesting
[name_f]Paloma[/name_f] - love but not sure if I would ever use
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]- again not sure if it fits
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] - like the [name_f]El[/name_f]- but fear that there are so many [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]’s right now
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f]
[name_f]Elora[/name_f] - just heard this. Has a pretty sound
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] - have a little friend with this name- so sweet on her!
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] - my cousin just used this last month, I think it’s adorable on her baby
[name_f]Lilah[/name_f] - was a contender when I was naming [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], but I think I’m over it

One [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] combo that stands out is
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
I like the [name_f]Em[/name_f]- beginning and longer syllables paired here because [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is just one syllable. Does have a nice flow with last name.

And hesitant on [name_f]Liv[/name_f] because to me it doesn’t sound complete. Very nick namey. And I am not a big fan of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and considered [name_f]Olive[/name_f], but it changes it away from the reason I like [name_f]Liv[/name_f]. Both my other 2 don’t really have implied nick names with their names and I do like that everyone calls them by full given names. Husband isn’t a big fan, so probably won’t use this, but still on my list.

I keep coming back to

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
Or other E or A middle name with 2 to 3 syllables.

I would probably end up using Maevie (kind of like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]), which I’m warming up to. [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to figure out if there are other M names I like, and if I mind the one syllable first name.

The feedback here is very helpful as I think through this naming process! Thank you!

Also [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] I fear may be a little too Disney [name_f]Princess[/name_f] associated for me. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I like the idea of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] nick name.

Still open to other suggestions. I keep scrolling through lists seeing what catches my eye!

If you keep going back to [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] I say go for it. It fits your sibset very well

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is beautiful

I also like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] from your list

[name_f]Maeva[/name_f]
[name_f]Marcy[/name_f]
[name_f]Martha[/name_f]
[name_u]Mirren[/name_u]

[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

I think [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] are especially attractive options with your children’s names. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. If any of these middle name options are also honour names, that’s a big bonus.

I get what you mean about the one syllable first name. Interestingly, did you struggle with this when you named your son [name_u]Jude[/name_u]? Another similarity here is that both [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] have long vowel sounds so it’s not quite so short and snippy. Whereas [name_f]Liv[/name_f] has that short vowel, so it feels quite different.

Let’s see if we can find any more classic but not overused names starting with “M.” Perhaps there is another name out there, or perhaps once you’ve gone through them all you will find [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] really is the best name for this baby.

[name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_f]Maureen[/name_f], [name_u]Marion[/name_u], [name_f]Marlena[/name_f], [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f], [name_f]Marceline[/name_f]. I particularly I enjoy [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] in this sibling set. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. Also [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f] “[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]”. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Mercedes[/name_f]. I would also put [name_f]Margot[/name_f] up there.

If you do settle on [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], I think Maevie is a very sweet nickname for a baby or a little girl. Would love to see a birth announcement once the baby arrives. All the best.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is great! And Maevie is really cute.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]

[name_f]Alma[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Esme[/name_f] [name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Mira[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] [name_f]Esme[/name_f]

I actually did struggle with naming [name_u]Jude[/name_u] a one syllable name for a while. I love it now because it’s suits him perfectly. But he honestly does get called “[name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]” quite often. It flows off the tongue easily and feels more complete to call him by both first and middle name sometimes. So, I don’t regret his name being short

So if I go with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], I definitely want a smooth flowing middle name that I love just as much. Because I know it might be similar to call her by both names more often just because it is one syllable. it is a good point that both [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] have that longer vowel sound that slightly lengthens the single syllable and does not make it feel so choppy.

Starting to like nickname Maevie, just as an in our house family nick name. Not liking [name_f]Mae[/name_f] at all.

There are lots of great suggestions here that I keep going back to consider.

Also, I love the lists of M names as well to consider. For some reason, Im feeling drawn to names that start with M, L, C, or E recently.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] sounds perfect with the sibling names.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Catrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is beautiful! [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] would be great too!

It’s nice to see how you’re going with the decision process. I wonder if you’ve given [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] some thought. It came to mind when you mentioned feeling drawn to the letters M, L, C, and E. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. It also has that long “i” sound like in [name_f]Briar[/name_f] and [name_f]Lilah[/name_f].

Looking at other names with these letters in the vintage or classic style, there’s [name_f]Liesl[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] that haven’t been mentioned. I think [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] has some zestiness, a great alternative to [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. To me, [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] has altogether a different feel to [name_f]Louise[/name_f] and could be a good option. [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] shares that long “a” sound with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] so it might appeal.

[name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Cathleen[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]. [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] shares some components with [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Elora[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I also love the feeling of it with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] in a way, with less frill than [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. Could use [name_f]Cece[/name_f] as a nickname, a bit like [name_f]Vivi[/name_f].

You might like [name_f]Edith[/name_f] or [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. I think both of these would lean the sibling set firmly in the camp of vintage charm. [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is rather timeless, it’s popularity has remained rather steady whilst never being overly popular. I think [name_f]Edith[/name_f] “[name_f]Edie[/name_f]” would be very sweet with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u].

You also mentioned the appeal of a middle name starting with E or A. What about [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Annora[/name_f] or [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_f]Autumn[/name_f]. Speaking of, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] would be great as a first name in your sibling set. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f].

Lastly, I wonder how you feel about [name_f]Ramona[/name_f]. It was already suggested by a previous poster but I think it’s a fantastic fit. Strong, feminine and retro. Similar in sound to [name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and the long “o” in [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_f]Ramona[/name_f].

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] could work maybe with the middle name of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Elana[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f] could work with a longer name of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Livia[/name_f]
Other names could be:
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]
[name_f]Crystal[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_f]Diane[/name_f]
[name_u]Addison[/name_u] [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurelle[/name_f] [name_u]Saige[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f] [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Destiny[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] [name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] Litta
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_u]Shelly[/name_u]
Maiella Catty
[name_f]Juliana[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]
