💭 Sister for Scarlett and Lucia

Hi Berries! I need some expert help! We have a Scarlett and a Lucia. Their new baby sister was born two weeks ago and is still nameless! We have narrowed down names to Eliza and Felicity. I think baby looks like an Eliza. My husband prefers Felicity. Babys middle name is already settled (Bernadette as it has family significance) so we can’t use both names! Which of the two (Eliza/Felicity) do you think vibes better with Scarlett and Lucia? thank you berries!

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are both great choices. I lean towards [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] with sisters [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] has more distinct sounds and a different ending and I prefer the style of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] with the sisters. It’s also fun that each sister would have a different number of syllables.

It’s hard when you have two strong finalists. We were down to two names when our son arrived. I preferred one and my husband preferred the other. I would’ve been pleased with either name but I only felt connected to one for our son. It took us five days and we ended up going with my preferred choice and my husband’s preferred middle name. The middle name represented my family and the surname represented my husband’s side. It felt like a good balance.

I would look at whether you can create more balance with this decision. If someone has had more input when naming each of your daughters, this time you could go with the other person’s preferred name. Some questions to think about that could help you with the decision:

  • Which name do you prefer with the chosen middle name and with the surname?

  • Which meaning do you prefer? How important is the meaning?

  • Does either name have a nickname you enjoy? Does either name have a nickname you want to avoid?

  • Did either you or your husband have more say over your other daughters’ names?

  • [name_f]Do[/name_f] either of your families have greater representation in your daughters’ names including surname?

  • Does either name have any associations that you love or any associations that bother you?

  • Which name story would most enjoy telling your daughter?

I wish you all the best with your decision.

I like Felicity better with the set as it gives them their distinct starting letter, syllable count and ending sound - Lucia and Eliza are a little close. So if set is most important, go Felicity!

But I personally prefer the name Eliza to Felicity, and I like Eliza better with Bernadette too (Bernadette is my second middle name). Felicity flows very well to Bernadette - but somehow the imagery of Eliza matches Bernadette better for me. Actually, I like the name Felicity too but I know a few Felicitys and they get Flick and Fliss as nn’s and I don’t really like either. My Eliza friend gets Eliza almost all the time, then sometimes Lil. If you have a Felicity nn you like or if you think you can enforce Felicity in full, that would be a big plus for Felicity.

Another option is to consider: Emily, Eleanor, Elsbeth, or Elizabeth as names that are less close to Lucia /have some of the length of Felicity but still similar to Eliza and in case of Elizabeth, you could use the name Eliza as a nn.

(Either way, I think names should be picked on an individual basis as first priority - and then really just see that it doesn’t stand out wildly or would cause any rivalry with the other kids, rather than going for the perfect set. As I bang on about (lol), our kids will spend most of their lives interacting as themselves - and only sometimes as part of a sibling group where other people might know their siblings’ names etc. So go for what suits her best! Good luck!)

I think I like [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] best here - it means she’s got her own end sound and syllable count from her sisters and it’s got a sweet, fresh, stylish feel too  It holds its own, and in general, it’s such a bright, cheerful name

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] works better in my opinion!

I also feel like I’d mix up [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] so I’d pick [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

[name_m]Welcome[/name_m] to Nameberry!

They’re both great choices. I’ll give another vote to [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] based purely on its distinctiveness from siblings’ names. You’ve also gotten lots of good advice above about how to decide based on your own circumstances – you can’t go wrong!

I also prefer [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], in general and with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. I love that they’d all share a ‘c’ too!

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are beautiful together!

And congratulations!!

[name_f]My[/name_f] initial reaction was [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] fits better with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]!

I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] gives me the same vibes as [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f].

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] with [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f]. Best wishes!

I prefer [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

I much prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], it’s a name I love and I don’t care for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. But personal preference aside, I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] goes much better in the set. It’s a different ending sound to both [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and therefore distinct, which I like. I do think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] sounds much better than [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] which is quite long altogether, but as the full name is rarely heard I don’t think it’s a huge issue.

Huge congratulations!

Firstly I hope you’re adjusting to life with a newborn and recovering from the birth.

Gosh naming children is so hard. It’s such a huge decision that can feel so overwhelming I appreciate why your bubba is still nameless it’s so hard. With this whole journey I would take your time. There is no need to rush you’ve got time. What I would do is try out both names on the baby figure out what name feels most natural. Create a pros + cons list for each name. Maybe do the Starbucks test as well try the name out for yourself by ordering a coffee with said name and see how it works in real life. I also think the lovely @kachenka questions to ask yourself are fab.

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] for your sibling set. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is sparkly, glamorous and twinkly. She has this peaceful city vibe. She has the glamour and exciting feel of a city but feels more slower paced. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is more Marseille than [name_f]Paris[/name_f] if that makes sense. I love the meaning happiness and Fliss as a sweet nickname.
I like that [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] has her own unique sound within your sibling set whilst feeling cohesive. I feel like with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] she’s more cohesive with [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] due to repeated sounds and same letter count leaving [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] on her own so I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] eradicates that. But [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is such a joyous zippy name she’s very fun.

Wishing you all the best whichever name you choose will be perfect :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I prefer [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] works better with her sisters. Both names are lovely!

Tough because I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is a much better match with [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] because it smooths over some of its charming clunkiness with whimsy and freshness.

But I honestly think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] goes better with her sisters’ names so I think I’ll say [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].

Congratulations for your third baby! I hope everything is going well!
With Sc@rlett and Luci@, I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] complements the set beautifully!
However, if you love both names and believe your baby looks like an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], follow your instinct! [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] Bern@dette is a lovely name!

Which pronunciation of [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] do you use? Loo-see-uh or Loo-sha? I think Loo-see-uh and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] might be a bit confusing to say in quick succession or might get a bit jumbled up, not a deal breaker just something to think about

I do think either choice is a good match up with your other two, my personal preference is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and think it is a bit more distinct in comparison to your older girls

I’ll go against most answers here and say [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] suits the set better. I get very energetic vibes from [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], they feel bold and have lots of character. To me, [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] has always been a very prim-and-proper name, it’s sweet and pretty but doesn’t have much character. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], on the other hand, feels just as fun as [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and Scarlett; it’s lovely and melodic yet feels strong.
I don’t see an issue with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] at all, I feel like that’s truly a Nameberry thing.
