Husband loves [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but I’m not sure about it. And [name_f]Veda[/name_f] was also my favorite for a while but I’m thinking something not quite so unusual? This is so hard! We both LOVED [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and are having much more trouble with baby girl names!
My favorites from your list are [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is a great choice. I like [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] but it might be too much with two S names.
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] is a classic [name_m]New[/name_m] Testament name, only now gaining some popularity, but long and quietly used in some circles as a classic. I know a few. All nice, well-educated guys in their 30’s and early 40’s. It’s a great name. As for these:
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]: It’s okay I guess. It’s not nearly as classic, and will date, [name_f]IMO[/name_f] (seeing how long it was considered an old lady name), but it’s fine. [name_m]Just[/name_m] doesn’t have the same sheen as [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]: This seems way off to me. Kind of hippy, new-aged. I can’t imagine a [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and a [name_f]Willow[/name_f] together. At all.
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]: Also a strange combo. Super trendy unisex name. It is the [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] of the 90s, the [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] of the 70s, etc. Does not seem to go with [name_m]Silas[/name_m] to me.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]: The best of the bunch by far. Classic and still current, like [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]: [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] is a cute name, with kind of a 1950s feel to me, and it is useable, in my view. But it does not go with [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. They are worlds apart in my opinion.
Other names I personally would put with [name_m]Silas[/name_m], based on your taste (which seems really varied):
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] ([name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Vivi[/name_f])
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] ([name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] would get that [name_u]Riley[/name_u] sound but land much more up market and classic)
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] (love this [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] ([name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Tilda[/name_f])
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] ([name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Susie[/name_f])
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
What great suggestions, thanks. So I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and wonder how it will flow with last name, Jarrah. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] Jarrah.
My husband and both his sisters have J first names because his mom loved the JJ initials, so it sounds somewhat normal to me.
As far as my style, I love the vintage names, but for girls have been liking some of the more non-traditional as well. I also like names that have lots of consonant sounds. Which is why I chose [name_f]Willow[/name_f], because it’s structured similar to [name_m]Silas[/name_m]. [name_f]May[/name_f] sound weird I know. And meanings are both related to trees/woods. But I also don’t want the name to be too different so wasn’t sure it was best fit!
Other names that bring flowers to mind are [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].
