Sister for Vivienne? Help!

I’m looking for a name for a sister for our daughter Vivienne. (We also have 2 boys with longer traditional names that are recognizable but not trendy and have a vintage feel. Think Lawrence, Frederick, William…)

We’re looking for a girls name that pairs nicely with Vivienne and her brothers and is:

  • longer (all 3 kids have 8 letters in their names and 2-3 syllables)
  • vintage, classy, traditional feeling
  • rare (Vivienne is more popular than we ever imagined when we choose it, prefer not to repeat that)
  • feminine, romantic
  • not too new (I like a name with depth and history)
  • has a sweet nickname or pet name for playful moments at home (all 3 of our kids have short 4 letter nicknames though they use their full names at school)

Names we are considering:

  • Eva Marie or Evamarie (nn Evie) We are concerned the double first name will get shortened to just Eva, which we don’t want, hence the smoosh to Evamarie… but does it roll off the tongue the way a 4 syllable name needs to in order to stick?
  • Anneliese We prefer the traditional German pronunciation Onna-Leesa but are not crazy about nn Ana or Anna for personal reasons.
  • Rosamée (rare French name pronounced Rosa-mae) We inexplicably loved this name until we learned that we cannot put an accent mark on the birth certificate and many formal documents. Without the accent, it seems less French, more Spanish, and perhaps almost made up. There is a Philipino name Rosamae but it’s not French and feels like a different name. Maybe Rosamee can survive without the accent mark? Maybe there is another Rose name I have overlooked? I’m just not sure. We are French, German, English and Austrian and our kids’ current names all reflect that.

I am open to feedback on the names above (do they even coordinate with Vivienne?) and I also welcome new name ideas.

Baby sister is arriving in just a couple months so I’m starting to feel the pressure…. Thank you so much!

I love [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] with [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]!

I love Rosamée but I always worry it would be mispronounced as Rosa-mee (like Rosalie) same with the [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] pronunctiation. I like Evamarie, but it might get lost in the popularity of all the little Evelyn’s, Ava’s, Everly’s etc.

Some suggestions…

I think Rosamee could survive without the accent mark and is beautiful! [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] is also a beautiful name and could be shortened to [name_u]Mina[/name_u] or [name_f]Willa[/name_f]. [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is also great - it’s the [name_u]French[/name_u] version of [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]. It could be shortened to [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], [name_f]Milly[/name_f], or [name_u]Mattie[/name_u].

I love Rosamee, but I do think you’d have problems with pronouncation from people who didn’t interact often with your daughter. Unless she almost exclusively went by a nickname.

Some other options for lesser known [name_u]Rose[/name_u] varients:

[name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Roselle[/name_f]

Other names you may like:

Maïwenn (even with out the accent marks this would be easily read in english and sound the same as the french)
[name_f]Clarimond[/name_f] or the more elaborate [name_f]Esclarmonde[/name_f]
Delphine/a

All the best!
