Our daughter‘s name is [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and we are expecting another girl early next year. The only name on our list right now is [name_f]Olive[/name_f].
I love this name but the popularity, along with the similarity to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], makes me very wary of using it. To the point where I am close to ruling it out.
If we were having a boy his name would likely be [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]. Which makes me think a future sibset of [name_u]Waverly[/name_u], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], and Thatcher…Olive reads as the obvious outlier.
We are also hoping to use the middle name [name_u]Rae[/name_u] to honor my grandmother. Who was ahead of her time with the name [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] [name_u]Rae[/name_u].
With those tidbits of information, we would love any suggestions or thoughts!
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] is adorable, but it definitely sticks out with [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] and [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m]. But if you really love it don’t let that deter you!
Other ideas that match [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] in style:
Hmmm what about Sydney?? But I can see how [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is a problem if you don’t like her being confused with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. Our daughter is [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and its the same with [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] being way more common.
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] is sweet - it does feel different to [name_u]Waverly[/name_u], but it’s also a sweet and vintage but on trend name at the moment, so I think it works! It is similar to the popular [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] though
Based on [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] and [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m], with middle name [name_u]Rae[/name_u], I’ll suggest:
I like that trio - to me, [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] can morph outdoorsy or vintage/whimsy as needed (ie match with [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or with [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] or both).
But assuming [name_f]Olive[/name_f] isn’t the one, and you want [name_m]Thatcher[/name_m] up your sleeve (ie I won’t suggest T names, or -er endings in my first list), here’s a mix of nature, fancy, and vintage/storybook:
If T and -er OK (and maybe for some of these names and above, [name_u]Sydney[/name_u] / [name_f]Sidonie[/name_f] would be a better middle so avoid the R run in).
I love [name_f]Olive[/name_f] too! We decided against it because of Olivia’s popularity too. I feared shed alway be correcting her name. Some suggestions:
Honestly I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is such a pretty name that feels calming and wholesome. I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is beautiful so spunky! I know [name_f]Olive[/name_f] isn’t a rare gem and is a more popular option in comparison to W@verly & Th@tcher however I do not find her popularity overwhelming. Also names really are not as popular as you think due to such a large variety of names being used nowadays. The likelihood [name_f]Olive[/name_f] will be the only [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. I also feel that even though [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is similar to the more popular Oliver/Olivia she does feel distinctive her overall sound doesn’t get lost with her more popular cousins. I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u] is magical so simplistic and understated. I also like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] with the sibling names the overall sibling set is so earthy and ethereal.
Some other ideas could be [name_f]Saffron[/name_f], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], [name_f]Clemency[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_u]Hollis[/name_u] and [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. Have you thought of using [name_u]Sydney[/name_u]?
