[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Everyone! I’ve been a lurker for a bit and have found the community to be super helpful and I’m stuck so I thought I would turn to you. We are due with a baby girl (6.5 years younger than her sister) and have been out of the name game for a while. Here’s our current situation:
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] (8)
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (6) ([name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]'s name is my maternal great grandmother’s maiden name)
I don’t think a super feminine name would go with [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] (plus we are extremely outdoorsy… hiking, climbing, wake surfing), but do really love the name [name_f]Grace[/name_f] for a middle name to keep it pretty. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] for a girl (my dad is [name_m]Steven[/name_m] and I am [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]) and also thought it would be meaningful to use my husband’s middle name, [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]… [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]… but think it sounds too masculine. So I was thinking [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]… but I’m not sure about the double middle name…
However, I’m open to other suggestions too. ha. I’m just feeling lost and am one of those weird pregnant girls that needs a name to feel connected to this growing baby.
Normally I love double middles but I don’ t think [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] works personally.
I think you might be trying too hard to honor too many people in one child’s name which is an easy trap to fall into. I think [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] on it’s own is great! You could also do [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. I have a colleague named [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] who named his daughter [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] also.
I would say [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] to honor a grandparent takes precedence but you could do either because both are great alongside [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u].
I’d prefer just [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] - sassy and all kinds of cute!
I’m not keen on [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] for a girl, first or middle, but how do you feel about [name_u]Rylan[/name_u]? I like that it has a prominent “y” like your other kids’ names, and I think it matches well in terms of style.
I have a [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], and I love both [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]… So maybe [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] would work for you? I do like [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] as well!
I like [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] over [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] :). [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is cool but maybe just as a nickname? It doesn’t quite work for me as a given name. But [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] would probably be the only option…
What about…
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Peyton[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Carter[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Parker[/name_u]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Micah[/name_u]
I like [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but I think it could be confusing with a [name_m]Steven[/name_m] in the family unit. [name_m]How[/name_m] about -
[name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is adorable!
That’s wonderful that you have so many people to honor! [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] grace is nice too but I think [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] goes better with [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] and sawyer:)
I suggest going with a surname name to fit with the other surname names in your sibset. Something like [name_u]Parker[/name_u], [name_u]Reagan[/name_u], or [name_u]Teagan[/name_u] would fit the bill. However, as everyone else is saying, [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a good name on its own.
I’m one of those people who prefers to have a more formal name on the birth certificate so that there are options for the child to choose from as they grow up. [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] is the obvious feminine version of [name_m]Steven[/name_m].
The name [name_m]Steven[/name_m] means crown or garland, so I tried finding a name w/the same meaning. There are lots, but they don’t go well w/[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] & [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]. The only one that I thought might be a possibility would be [name_f]Garland[/name_f] itself…[name_f]Garland[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]? Stretching the idea of [name_f]Garland[/name_f] a little farther, what about [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]? The garlands traditionally worn by Olympic winners were garlands of laurel. [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]?
Other not-super-feminine/somewhat surname-ish possibilities:
Couldn’t you just name her [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and call her [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] for an adorable nickname?
I see [name_u]Rylan[/name_u] has already been suggested and I was already thinking [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] [name_u]Rylan[/name_u], still called [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] would be great!
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you wish (as an adult) that you’d been named just [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] instead of [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]? I doubt it. [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] is cute, cute, cute!
I’m not sure about [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u], but I really like the spunky charm of [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]! I would leave the [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] out for now.
