Sister for....

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all, we are expecting in [name_u]June[/name_u] and we don’t know the gender yet. We already have two girls and two boys. I was contemplating the name [name_f]Melodie[/name_f] or [name_f]Melody[/name_f] if we have another dd…however, it feels like quite the departure from our usual style (classic/vintage perhaps?) and I’m wondering if it’s glaringly obvious to others. Other kids are: S@muel, E&me, [name_m]Georg[/name_m]!a, Ch@rles. Other alternatives are:

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] but I’ll probably end up using as he MN.

[name_f]Tia[/name_f]!

I agree that it is quite a departure - how about [name_f]Marcy[/name_f]/[name_f]Mary[/name_f]/[name_f]Mercy[/name_f]? All three have very similar sounds but are vintage in style.

Or

[name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]

Personally, I don’t think [name_f]Melody[/name_f] is quite a departure from your usual style. Maybe it’s just me, but I think of [name_f]Melody[/name_f] to be a sweet, vintage name. However if you decide against using it as the first name, it would make a wonderful middle name. Here are some ideas…

[name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] these help!

I don’t think [name_f]Melody[/name_f] is a different style.
I like [name_f]Melody[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] from your options.

Other ideas
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]

You could consider [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]… one letter off from [name_f]Melody[/name_f]/[name_f]Melodie[/name_f] but it seems to fit your naming style a bit more! Otherwise, if you love the name [name_f]Melody[/name_f]/[name_f]Melodie[/name_f], I think you should use it, regardless of your naming style in the past.

I also really like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and think they would all be lovely choices as well. I love the combos [name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]!

I don’t think [name_f]Melody[/name_f] is too much of a departure. It feels quite close stylistically to E&me imo. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is also a great choice

Some other ideas
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f]
[name_f]Melanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]

I was coming to suggest [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], so I second that, but I really love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] for you. [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] would be fabulous with your sibset.

I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] and I do think it works well with [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m] however I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f] works a little better. [name_f]Melody[/name_f] is very pretty and does work okay but it is a rather different style. I do like the suggestion of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] instead :).
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m], [name_f]Esme[/name_f], [name_f]Georgia[/name_f], [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and…

[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]
[name_f]Delia[/name_f]
[name_f]Celia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Louise[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Sara[/name_f]
[name_f]Carly[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Adela[/name_f]
[name_f]Annalise[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

I say go for it! [name_f]Melody[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is a great name if it is the one you like the most.
(I would stick with the traditional spelling)

Thanks so much for the responses. It seems the overall opinion is that [name_f]Melody[/name_f] wouldn’t be too different, so that does help me! I love the suggestion of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but haven’t been able to sway DH. I really like the idea of [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f]! I hadn’t thought of this one, because I have been stuck on using [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] as the middle after my grandmother. But [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Melody[/name_f] is at the top of the list now. Thanks, for your help everyone.

I think [name_f]Melody[/name_f] fits in just fine.
