Sister Name for Margot

I love my first daughter’s name, Margot James, so much because it honors my grandmother (Margaret) without directly naming her the same thing and has a cool girl feel to it while going well with my last name. My sisters and I all have unisex/traditionally male names and I wanted to continue that tradition with the middle name, so chose James for my father, who was James Arthur III and didn’t have any sons to carry on the tradition.

Now I’m pregnant with my second daughter and am having a really hard time coming up with something I love as much.

Trying to continue the first name tradition by choosing something that is reminiscent of a family name but not necessarily a direct “naming after a family member name”. Names of other close family members we would like to honor are Pauline, Joan, Jose, Ryann, Stephanie, Thelma, Sarah and Thomas.

Our last name starts with a P and ends in a long e sound, so trying to stay away from P names or names that also end in the long e, like Daphne, which was always on my baby name list and it kills me to veto.

A few ideas are:
Alina (reminds me of Paulina, which Pauline is often referred to as)
Josephine (no one in my family likes this as much as I do)
Juniper (for the nickname June, which I associate with Joan (But again, no one else seems to like this one)
Thea (stretch for Thelma)
Rhiannon (stretch for Ryann)
Rowan (stretch for Rowan)
Seraphina (feel like this could honor both Stephanie and Sarah. Might feel too long and fluffy next to Margot)
Zara (for Sarah, but not sure how popular the clothing store is. It’s not at all in my area, but not sure if that will stay they same or if my daughter would hate it)
Autumn (not my favorite, but love the nickname Tommy)

I feel like none of these fit really well stylistically with Margot. Curious to get other name nerd opinions, or see if there are any other ideas I haven’t thought of.

Congratulations!
My favorite ideas of yours are:
Josephine- I think Margot and Josephine go really well together and it reminds me of Little Women!
Thea- Margot and Thea also go really well together and Thea can definitely be an honor for Thelma since they both start with the same letters, end in the same letter, and are both two syllables
Seraphina- A great honor name for a Stephanie and Sarah! It does feel a little long next to Margot but not overly so.

I don’t think Rowan, Zara, or Autumn go as well with Margot though since they’re more modern/unisex

Sadie- I love this with Margot as they’re both vintage and trendy nicknames (Sadie is a nickname for Sarah!) It does end in the long -e sound so probably not the best option, just wanted to throw it out there.
Gianna- a form of Joan
Joanna- a form of Joan
Nina- short form of Joan, another nickname like Margot!
Reina- means queen, similar to Sarah’s meaning of princess and Stephanie’s meaning of crown!

Vaughn could also be a nice middle name since it’s traditionally male and means “little” similar to Paul’s meaning “small”

[name_f]Stevie[/name_f] comes to mind for a middle. [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_m]Ryan[/name_m]. [name_m]Or[/name_m] [name_f]Jo[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

For [name_f]Joan[/name_f], honors I like [name_f]Janae[/name_f], [name_f]Jean[/name_f], [name_f]Gia[/name_f] or [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Lina[/name_f] is nice with [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and works as an honor for [name_f]Pauline[/name_f] to me.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] is a favorite and honors [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Thea[/name_f] are darling with [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] +

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Elena[/name_f] / [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (EL from [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], also feels close to Pauline)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Joelle[/name_f] / [name_f]Josie[/name_f] / [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Annie[/name_f] / [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] (Ann from [name_f]Ryann[/name_f] and NIE from Stephanie)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Linnea[/name_f] (feels similar to the end of Pauline)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] (Emma-Leen)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Theadora[/name_f] / [name_f]Thalia[/name_f] / [name_f]Alma[/name_f] (after Thelma)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Rhea[/name_f] / [name_f]Riana[/name_f] (after Ryann)

[name_f][/name_f]

The middle name [name_f]Tommie[/name_f] would work to honor [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and since you used [name_m]James[/name_m] for [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. [name_f]Tommie[/name_f] should work for a lot of options. [name_f]Stevie[/name_f] could work after [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] too.

Rayanne comes to mind as an honor to [name_f]Ryann[/name_f]! Perhaps something like…

[name_f][/name_f]

Rayanne [name_m]Jordan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Blake[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Elliott[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Parker[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Finley[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Jude[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Dylan[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Mason[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Connor[/name_m]
[name_f][/name_f]Rayanne [name_m]Morgan[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f]

Some othet ideas are [name_f]Jean[/name_f] for [name_f]Joan[/name_f], [name_f]Stevie[/name_f] for [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], [name_f]Paula[/name_f] for [name_f]Pauline[/name_f], and [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] for [name_m]Thomas[/name_m].

Of your list, I really like:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] → bright and zippy

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] → fresh but established [name_f][/name_f]- Thelma/Thea makes sense to me

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] → strong and elegant (Ryann/Rhiannon makes sense to me)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Rowan[/name_m] → love the gentleness of this [name_f][/name_f]- I think it would fit the middle name vibe

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Zara[/name_f] → sharp and sleek [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is a popular shop where I am, but is well used on girls too, so I don’t think that should be a deal break imo

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Alina[/name_f] → sweet and familiar with a twist.

[name_f][/name_f]

Some more ideas:

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Jolene[/name_f] (Pauline, [name_f]Joan[/name_f], Jose)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Sarai[/name_f] (Sarah and Ryan)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Tamsin[/name_f] (Thomas)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Alma[/name_f] (from Thelma)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Rosana[/name_f] (Ryann + Jose)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] (a hint of [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] and Stephanie)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Josette[/name_f] (Jose)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Stella[/name_f] (Stephanie)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Lina[/name_f] (Pauline)

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- gorgeous and timeless
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- so cool and witchy

[name_f][/name_f]

other ideas:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Celine[/name_f] (sounds similar to Pauline)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Anne[/name_f] or any ann name (stretch for Ryan)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Zelda[/name_f] (sounds like Thelma)
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sadie[/name_f] (for Sarah)

Congratulations!

[name_f][/name_f]

I absolutely love Marg0t Jam3s such a gorgeous name. Really spunky and bright.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] thoughts on your list

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Alina[/name_f] ~ I think this name is really elegant, sleek and feminine with a gorgeous meaning. She feels very classic with Marg0t I love the pan European flair of this sibling set.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_f]Pauline[/name_f]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Paloma[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Paisley[/name_f] & [name_f]Polly[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] ~ I think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] works wonderfully with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] she provides this literacy storybook feel that I really dig. I think Marg0t & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be gorgeous together.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_m]Jose[/name_m]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Josette[/name_f], [name_f]Jolene[/name_f], [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f], [name_m]Joss[/name_m] & [name_f]Jovie[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Juniper[/name_f] ~ this name is such a fun bohemian choice that I think feels slightly different to Marg0t but has the stylish feel and is very fun to say.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_f]Joan[/name_f]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_f]Joya[/name_f], [name_f]Joy[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f] & [name_f]Junia[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Joan[/name_f] ~ I absolutely love [name_f]Joan[/name_f]! Such a sweet vintage name that feels spunky and vintage such an adorable choice with big sister Marg0t.
[name_f][/name_f]Previous suggestions to honour [name_f]Joan[/name_f] above but also maybe [name_f]Annie[/name_f] could work.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Thea[/name_f] ~ of course [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is beautiful with a lovely meaning to match. I think she feels very in keeping with Marg0t a very preppy pair.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_f]Thelma[/name_f]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_m]Elm[/name_m], [name_f]Thora[/name_f], [name_f]Alma[/name_f] & [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] ~ so [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] isn’t usually a favourite of mine however she has been growing on me she’s bright, sparky and strong. She’s pretty with Marg0t.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_m]Ryan[/name_m]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Soraya[/name_f], [name_f]Roya[/name_f], [name_f]Riley[/name_f] & [name_f]Rae[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Rowan[/name_m] ~ I actually love [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] and I think it’s a great way to honour [name_m]Ryan[/name_m]. Personally I wouldn’t have [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] in the first name slot for Marg0t little sister but as a middle name she’s perfect matching Jam3s style brilliantly. Something like [name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] would be pretty. Previous [name_m]Ryan[/name_m] suggestions above!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] ~ this name is a favourite of mine she’s majestic, elegant and romantic with angelic holy imagery. I think [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] does feel a little lengthy paired with Marg0t.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Persephone[/name_f], [name_f]Stevie[/name_f], [name_f]Stefania[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Zara[/name_f] ~ she’s beautiful and I think popularity wise she isn’t overly popular. In the UK she is within the top 100 ranking at #69[name_f][/name_f] whereas [name_f]Margot[/name_f] ranks at #57[name_f][/name_f] so for me they are of a similar popularity and as a result feel cohesive both being fashionable, feminine choices. I think the clothing store is a non issue.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_f]Seren[/name_f] & [name_f]Sally[/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Autumn[/name_f] ~ I really love [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] however [name_m]Tommy[/name_m] is a stretchy nickname in my opinion so if that’s your only reason why you like the name then I wouldn’t use.
[name_f][/name_f]Names to honour [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], [name_m]Toma[/name_m], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f] & [name_f]Tessa[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

Your daughter’s name is absolutely stunning, and I adore all the familial significance it has :two_hearts:

[name_f][/name_f]

From your current list, I’m loving [name_f]Alina[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], & [name_f]Josephine[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] the best! I wasn’t even sure what clothing store you were referring to with [name_f]Zara[/name_f] until I looked it up (I’m in the southern U.S.), so I wouldn’t label that association as an issue. Stylistically, I love all three of these with [name_f]Margot[/name_f], but [name_f]Zara[/name_f] is definitely my favorite – internationally chic, elegant & strong & feminine but not princess-y!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f][/name_f]

I love [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] because it’s got that same cool girl energy like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] without being overly popular.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Pauline[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Lena[/name_f] or [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]? They’re quirky and cool like [name_f]Margot[/name_f]

[name_f]Joan[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Joni[/name_f], [name_f]June[/name_f] or [name_f]Juniper[/name_f]? More subtle nods to [name_f]Joan[/name_f]?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Jose[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_m]Jett[/name_m] or [name_f]Josie[/name_f] (I’m a sucker for Josephine!!! [name_m]Or[/name_m] even just Josie?)

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Ryan[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Riley[/name_f] or [name_f]Reagan[/name_f]? Could be a stretch.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Stephanie[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Stevie[/name_f] or [name_f]Stella[/name_f]? I’m a sucker for the tomboy nickname [name_f]Stevie[/name_f] for a girl!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Thelma[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Thea[/name_f]? Soft and sweet, too cute. [name_m]Or[/name_m] even Theodora/Theo for a girl?

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Sariah[/name_f], [name_f]Zara[/name_f] or [name_f]Sloane[/name_f]. [name_f]Sloane[/name_f] is so effortlessly badass like [name_f]Margot[/name_f], I adore it!

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] or Tess/Tessa is what comes to mind. I think [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is so freaking cute and gives cool girl energy.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_m]James[/name_m] & [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] [name_m]Jett[/name_m]

[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_m]James[/name_m] & [name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]

okay but [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Juniper[/name_f] would be so cute! [name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] would also work, [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] isn’t too fluffy:)
