We are expecting a daughter in only two weeks and we haven’t decided on a name yet. Our two sons are named [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] [name_u]David[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_u]John[/name_u]. We also had a stillborn daughter we named [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. We need help determining a name for this little girl. Here’s our list right now.
Seeing this baby is a special gift after our loss, I’d like her name to have some meaning. I’m open to thoughts on the names above as well as other suggestions.
First, I’m so sorry for your loss and congratulations on your baby girl.
I really, really love your name list - I think each one would be a great fit.
One name that came to mind is [name_f]Honora[/name_f]. I think the style fits with your list, it would make a great sibset, and would make a lovely honor.
[name_f]My[/name_f] condolences for the the loss of your child.
I like [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] best, and then [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]. I wonder if [name_f]Grace[/name_f] would be a good middle name given Hannah’s meaning.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] → classic but bright, and the meaning seems fitting!
[name_u]Haven[/name_u] → I like the warm, safe feeling of this
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] → sunny and cheerful - I like the link to Hannah’s middle
[name_f]Louella[/name_f] → bright, warm and pretty with a happy feel - nice meaning too (if taken from Louise)
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] → strong and solid and pretty too - I guess the only drawback is that it doesn’t have the same ‘meaning’ as the other choices (unless if it a special name in some personal way to you!!)
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] → bubbly, sweet and sassy - a lovely name!
[name_f]Louella[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_u]Haven[/name_u], and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f] maybe?
Out of your current list I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] or [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] - I love Clara’s meaning (“bright”) and the overall sweetness of this name. I think it pairs really well with [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] and [name_m]Silas[/name_m].
[name_f]Lydia[/name_f] - [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] is so charming and I love the nickname Lyddie! She has a biblical tie like [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] (if that is important or a preference) and she is a friendly under the radar choice!
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] also has a sweet meaning (“radiant; shining one”) and she has a playful spark that makes her a fun choice! I feel like she vibes well with [name_m]Silas[/name_m] and [name_u]Wesley[/name_u]!
I’m so sorry for the loss of [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]
Looking at your list I like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] + [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] is elegant, wintry, has lovely associations with the nutcracker and has the meaning ‘bright, clear’ which I think is apt as this baby with bring brightness after such dark times.
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] is such a sunny name that has a sweet bouncy joyful feel. I love the meaning ‘radiant; shining one’ which I feel again is really apt for a rainbow baby. She’s also biblical like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]!
Both these names have meanings that feel linked to the joy this baby has brought along with cohesion with her older siblings.
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] means ‘Grace’ so maybe names with this meaning could work…
[name_f]Winifred[/name_f] ~ blessed peacemaking
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] ~ she who brings happiness
[name_f]Adelpha[/name_f] ~ beloved sister
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] ~ bearer of good news
[name_f]Itzel[/name_f] ~ meaning rainbow lady
[name_f]Idalia[/name_f] ~ behold the sun
[name_f]Apricity[/name_f] ~ the warmth of the sun in the winter
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] ~ happiness
I’m so sorry for your previous loss. I think [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], and [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] all fit really nicely with the other names. Could you use a middle name with some sort of honor meaning? [name_f]Hope[/name_f] or [name_f]Faith[/name_f] or [name_u]Love[/name_u]?
How beautiful that you want to honour your lovely [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] with her little sister’s name.
From your list, my favourite is [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], which I think sounds great alongside [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] and [name_f]Hannah[/name_f].
I also love [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], but it feels a little more placid and calm compared to the energy of [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f].
