Sister to Rosalie Gabrielle

Hello again berries!

I last posted just about a year ago (I think) and have been lurking off/on since. Our baby girl, [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] (occasionally [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]), is almost 1, and her little sister will be arriving in [name_f]February[/name_f]! Finding a name we love has been much harder this time around! There are plenty of names that I like, but none seem to light me up the way our first’s does. Hubby and I have come up a handful of choices, and we may need to wait to meet her to see what fits her the best. In the meantime I am curious for your thoughts and any suggestions.

My guidelines in general have included: uncommon but familiar, relatively easy to spell and pronounce, feminine, connection to a Catholic [name_m]Saint[/name_m], and bonus for a family connection. Last name sounds like [name_m]Hammond[/name_m].

Under Consideration

  • [name_f]Annika[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (Prn. [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-nuh-kuh. I would use [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] as a first name in a heartbeat if my own first name weren’t [name_u]Julie[/name_u].)
  • [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] (Hubby loves nickname [name_u]Rory[/name_u].)
  • [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] (Also a fav of hubby. I love [name_f]Claire[/name_f] but hesitate due to its popularity and “plainness” compared to [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].)
  • [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] ([name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is great great grandmother’s name. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is my middle name. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is great grandmother’s name on the other side. So kind of a nice pattern. )
  • [name_f]Elise[/name_f]…middle name (Can’t find anything we love that flows well.)

Which would you choose? Perhaps none of the above? Thank you for your time and advice!

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] & Anikka [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is nice. I’ve known girls with the spelling [name_f]Anika[/name_f] which might blend nicer with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] & [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is pretty perfect, but [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is very similar sounding to [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and especially [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a little much for me, so [name_u]Rory[/name_u] & [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is a lot.

[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is very pretty – if you want to jazz [name_f]Claire[/name_f] up a bit, what about [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Clarabel[/name_f], [name_u]Sinclair[/name_u], [name_f]Clarice[/name_f], [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f], [name_f]Claret[/name_f]?

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] & [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is nice together – I don’t dislike [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] per say, but it’s not romantic as [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. Also definitely consider what she’ll likely have her name shortened to/what people would like use as a NN.

I like the name [name_f]Elise[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] & [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is too rhymey. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] might work better.

You might also like: [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Adrienne[/name_f], [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Anastasia[/name_f], [name_f]Audra[/name_f], [name_f]Calista[/name_f]/[name_f]Calixta[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f]/[name_f]Camilla[/name_f], [name_f]Catriona[/name_f], [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Katrina[/name_f], [name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Leila[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], Liandra/[name_f]Leandra[/name_f], Liara, [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lilianna[/name_f], Lilibelle, [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lillith[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Lorena[/name_f]/[name_f]Lorna[/name_f], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], [name_f]Margo[/name_f]/t/aux, [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Miranda[/name_f], [name_f]Miriam[/name_f], [name_f]Nina[/name_f], [name_f]Noelle[/name_f], [name_f]Nicolette[/name_f], [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Portia[/name_f], [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f], [name_f]Rachel[/name_f]/[name_f]Raquelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Rochelle[/name_f], [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f], [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Sabrina[/name_f], [name_f]Samantha[/name_f], [name_f]Serena[/name_f], [name_u]Sierra[/name_u], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Tatiana[/name_f], [name_f]Ursula[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]/Vivenne, [name_f]Zara[/name_f]

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is perfect.

Other suggestions…
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]/[name_f]Melody[/name_f], [name_f]Clarissa[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Valeria[/name_f]/[name_f]Valerie[/name_f]…

I really love the name [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Annika[/name_f] looks a little made up to me. I also think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is an adorable nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
I agree that [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a little plain, but I think it would work nicely in the middle spot. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]? That also answers your final question!
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] myself. I think your other choices are far nicer!

Good luck, I look forward to hearing what you choose!

[name_f]Annika[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is lovely! [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is as well, but I agree with @whiteteaandginger that it is too close to [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], especially with the nn of [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. I really like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] but would encourage the nn [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] or [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], otherwise it may get shortened to [name_f]Gen[/name_f]/[name_f]Jen[/name_f] which I find too common. Other suggestions…

[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f]/[name_f]Anja[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]

Thank you for all the feedback so far! I tried to get hubby on board with [name_f]Clara[/name_f] with no success. Same with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] was on our list for awhile too, but it seemed too rhymey with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] so I can see how [name_f]Elise[/name_f] has that problem as well. [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] would probably have the nickname “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” but that may be hard to police.

I do think [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is at the top of my list, but 2 of you brought up my only concern with it: [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] is awfully cutesy. These girls will only be 14 mo. apart so I can see us constantly calling them by each other’s names. Maybe that happens with all siblings no matter the age gap or name similarity? We shall see if that is something I am able to move past. Perhaps [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rora[/name_f] as a slight improvement instead…?

Thank you again!!

I love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]! If I ever have two girls I plan on using [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] the best from your list. They match your sibset and criteria best [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Also, I wouldn’t worry about the nicknames for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], if you introduce your daughter as “this is [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], we call her ___” then that will be what it is to everyone. The most common nicknames I’ve heard for [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] are: [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], [name_f]Genie[/name_f], and [name_f]Vivi[/name_f]. Some others that are also saint names, uncommon but familiar and feminine are:
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Daria[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Maura[/name_f]
[name_f]Regina[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] together, but not so much [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u]. Would you go for [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]? [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Jules[/name_u] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Julie[/name_u] are super cute together.

I think that [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is beautiful. It’s the same style as [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] too. Only, if you really will call her [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] gets called [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] more and more, I’m afraid that [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] are too close for me. If you’re calling for one the other might think you’re calling for her instead. But, maybe that’s ok with you.

That said, I like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] even more with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]!! They both have that “twist on a classic” aspect, and it just feels lovable. I find [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] to be a slightly austere name (nothing wrong with that, it’s just a slightly different mood than [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], imo). I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with naming a baby after yourself!! My husband has the exact same name as his father. First and middle. Besides, [name_u]Julie[/name_u] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are quite different, imo. [name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is a different name than [name_u]Julie[/name_u]! So, it’s more like the name is connected to you than it is a direct namesake. My ultimate vote is for [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. (You can even still get [name_u]Rory[/name_u] from that if you want!)

I absolutely love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]. They are both stunning, and if you just call them [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_u]Rory[/name_u] around the house, I think that would be adorable.
That said, I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], too. Not sold on [name_f]Elise[/name_f], though. Maybe use [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] as a variation of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] instead? I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] and it’s a really nice match with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f].
Maybe consider:
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Esmee[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavinia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Briony[/name_f]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]

I love love love [name_f]Annika[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Annika[/name_f] is one of the most lovely names out there!

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] and…

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f],
second choice [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f].

Some other suggestions:

[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]

I agree with the majority that [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] goes best with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f]. Although [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] are a bit cutesy, I think [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rora[/name_f] would be a great sibset! On the tone of [name_f]Rora[/name_f], I think [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Nora[/name_f]’ would also be nice. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] is also very pretty and would go well with [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], but it’s a bit more unique. [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_f]Aura[/name_f] would be a great sibset  Good luck and congrats

I think [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is beautiful! … and perfect. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] - cutest thing ever!!

My husband is especially pleased that [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] seems to be winning the race! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] only goes by “[name_f]Rosie[/name_f]” within the family and only sometimes. She is always introduced as “[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f],” and we would plan to continue that if we chose [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], “[name_u]Rory[/name_u].” So, I’m really starting to lean towards [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. [name_f]Annika[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is probably my number 2 choice.

I do [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] as a first name, but the practical side of me just doesn’t want to go there with potential paperwork/identity confusion. [name_m]Alas[/name_m], it must remain in the middle.

Initially, I also was hesitant about [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] because it is not a direct [name_m]Saint[/name_m]'s name; however, I recently read this blog post: http://sanctanomina.net/2015/05/21/spotlight-on-aurora/. Pretty cool for a Catholic baby girl to have references to [name_m]Christ[/name_m] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] all in one name. And, of course, [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a reference to [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_u]Julie[/name_u] Billiart so it fulfills that requirement regardless. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to share the post for any other Catholic/[name_m]Saint[/name_m] name enthusiasts out there.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! We’re not 100% decided and won’t be until we meet her, but this has been very helpful. I’ll plan to post a birth announcement with our choice once she arrives!
