We have a 17 month old daughter named [name]Emory[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and are expecting another girl in [name]September[/name]. We haven’t even begun talking about a name for DD2 as the first time was so difficult for us to agree on - she wasn’t even actually named until day 3 when we left the hospital.
A little background - both [name]Emory[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] are family names and we are quite partial to having it along the same lines this time around. My husband wanted [name]Emory[/name] from the get go, but I was a little reluctant as I don’t necessarily like unisex names, nor did I prefer the spelling (but that’s the original spelling of our family name so we kept it that way). Regardless, I [name]LOVE[/name] it now and find it so unique, strong, feminine and special to our hearts. We call her [name]Emory[/name], [name]Em[/name] and [name]Emmy[/name]. [name]Just[/name] wanted to provide some input on what I thought then and now of the name. This time around I do not want a unisex name, and the name’s we considered before are the following:
[name]Elizabeth[/name] (but obviously we used that for her DD1’s middle name)
[name]Katherine[/name] and call her [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Abigail[/name] - but we thought it was too common
[name]Amelia[/name] - we loved this name, but it didn’t sound well with our last name
[name]Frances[/name] - but I didn’t really like the nicknames
[name]Rose[/name] - We both really liked this family name but DH couldn’t disassociate [name]Rosie[/name] O’[name]Donnel[/name] with it.
[name]Violet[/name] - Also a family name, but found it maybe too trendy or something.
Thoughts on these names and other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Oh, and the other name we considered was [name]Clara[/name]. BUT if we have a boy down the line we will use [name]Charlie[/name] and I would really hate having a [name]Clara[/name] and [name]Charlie[/name]. Is that so petty of me??

Thank you ladies! Of your list, I really like:
[name]Juliet[/name] - we really considered this early on, but DH thought it was too cliche… what do you all think?
[name]Sadie[/name] - I love [name]Sadie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Sarah[/name] (which is a family name), but does it ring dog name to you?
[name]Lucy[/name] - Really, really, really love [name]Lucy[/name], but does it go with [name]Emory[/name]? [name]Do[/name] the dual y endings sound too matchy?
[name]Margaret[/name] - [name]Love[/name] [name]Maggie[/name], but neither of us are fans of [name]Margaret[/name], unfortunately.
[name]Penelope[/name] - We both like this name, but find it a bit out of our style.
Thoughts??
