Sisterset advice

hi berries,

two girls’ names i really like are
nora
and rosalie, or rose.

which do you prefer of these potential sets? nora and rose, or nora and rosalie?

is rosalie stylistically too frilly when compared to nora?

do nora and rose run into each other when said one after the other?

ultimately, do you think these names work together as sisters’s names?

I definitely prefer [name_u]Rose[/name_u] to [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] with [name_f]Nora[/name_f] - [name_f]Nora[/name_f] feels quite simple and cosy to me, so I do think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a bit frilly in comparison. I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_u]Rose[/name_u] are sweet together, my only concern is that the strong ‘r’ sound in both names makes it slightly difficult to say? A few other sister sets I like with each name, feel free to take or leave them…
[name_u]Rose[/name_u] & [name_f]Alice[/name_f] (that’s my favourite name to go with Rose), [name_u]Rose[/name_u] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_u]Rose[/name_u] & [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_u]Rose[/name_u] & [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], [name_u]Rose[/name_u] & [name_u]Esmé[/name_u]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_u]Hazel[/name_u], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_u]Josie[/name_u]
Overall I do think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_u]Rose[/name_u] works as a sister set, it’s just a bit tricky on the tongue. But their both lovely names with a similar sweet country vibe :ribbon:

Such gorgeous names!

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] + [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] sound pretty together very classic and feminine. However I would assume that [name_f]Nora[/name_f] is a nickname. I think stylistically [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be a better fit.

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] + [name_u]Rose[/name_u] are gorgeous cohesive pairing. [name_u]Rose[/name_u] is a very classic romantic name one of favourites! I think [name_u]Rose[/name_u] makes the most sense they are both short, timeless choices and very pretty together with the shared ‘o’ sound. I do not think the names run into each other they sound gorgeous. I would be more inclined to go with [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_u]Rose[/name_u].

Agree! :raised_hands: Would lengthen Nora to say Lenore/Leonora etc to pair with Rosalie, or keep the tailored and stylish Nora & Rose (which is a little R heavy to say but not a problem from the POVs of the children/people with the names, rarely saying their sibling’s name in conjunction with their own.)

Edit:after swung on this and think maybe better to have Nora & Rosalie and Rose & Lenora/Lenore/Leonor. More interesting and takes away the “nose” possibility. I would personally go for Rose & Leonor nn Nora because I’m not a big Rosalie fan and think Rosalie would likely only get Rosie and only very occasionally Rose, while Rose can get the beautiful Rose or Rosie.

I think either set works, but I’d have to say them as [name_u]Rose[/name_u] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] because I trip over the R sounds too much otherwise!

I personally prefer [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f]! I like that they both have a slight vintage, nature-y/outdoorsy, warm vibe, but hold their own too

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].

Summary

I have to be honest, if my kids were named [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_u]Rose[/name_u], I would totally get both confused and call them Nose.

I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] sound great together  If I like the short and long form of a name, I prefer to name the child the longer form so I can still use both! [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] feel similar to me, so I don’t find [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] more frilly. And you can still call [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] by [name_u]Rose[/name_u] if you do that

I do think either option is great, and it is nice that [name_u]Rose[/name_u] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] are both just 4 letters though!

i prefer rosalie with nora !! nora feels so sweet and cosy, and rose feels quite a bit more buttoned-up and sleek and proper with her. rosalie is a little longer and frillier, yes, but she is also a little softer and a little cosier !! i think both/either would work well as a sister set, but my vote goes for rosalie <3

I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are beautiful together.

[name_f]My[/name_f] preference is to always give long names , and the kids can use nicknames interchangeably. I love how [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] has so many nickname potentials ( [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_u]Ali[/name_u], [name_f]Sally[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] , [name_u]Lee[/name_u] , [name_f]Ros[/name_f] etc.)

I think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are a fantastic set. Warm and timeless.

They are all lovely and work together seamlessly
